“This place is family owned and operated. The lady at the register is nice and friendly. This is my go to place for lunch since it’s located in the 1st floor of the building I work at. I typically order their 1) hamburger with fries, 2) 6 hot & sour wings with either fries or rice, 3) kung pow chicken, and 4) Vietnamese pork sandwich with fries. Give this place a try!!I had a special request to add the ketchup on the fries just to save another container.“

“The management (I believe Sheila was her name) is rude and the owner did nothing. I had a terrible experience with them after years of supporting them and will never go back. They treated me and my girlfriend atrociously wrong after informing them that one of the sides was cold and not edible . The female manager called my girlfriend a liar to me stating she didn't come up and ask for another side and came with an attitude which was not the case, then refused to give us a refund . We spoke to the owner who was sitting down at a table eating alone (was staring at us the entire time) and he said "I have dementia and can't get involved" .. they later refused to refill our drinks, refused to come back by our table and the manager started filming me with her cellphone, all over trying to return a side that was disgusting and cold. Per the pictures in the restaurant, they started with an all African American staff and now they don't even want us there... They are a joke.. save your money and don't go there.“

“I wonder if those who complain about stingy portions have realized that it’s an all you can eat. Yes, food is not top notch cuisine, but you can feed yourself more than decently for 12-13$, with way better food than any fast food chain around, and you’re on campus. Some more power plugs would allow more laptop charging“

“Treebeards is fantastic - I have been going for years, and the food is consistently very good (both quality and taste). The salads, main courses, sides and desserts are all great - a few of my favorites are the salads (with vinaigrette), the étouffée, the baked and the fried chicken, the chicken and sausage gumbo, the squash casserole, and the brownies!“

“OMG, I was visiting with family and they decided to go to Luby's for our evening meal since it was a large group of us. Unfortunately we don't have a Luby's in Lubbock TX, so I was so thrilled to eat there. The food was fresh, seasoned and downright Great! I loved all the choices and the Staff was absolutely amazingly helpful and friendly! I miss having a Luby's, it was and still is one of my all time favorites. Oh, I was visiting family in the Fort Worth area. Please consider Lubbock TX as a location, we don't have a cafeteria style restaurant that comes close to Luby's!!!!“

“I have been going to Arpi’s many times over the past few years. It’s one of my favorite spots in Houston and I’ve recommended it and taken many friends and family there. My favorite plate by far is the lamb shawarma plate with the mujaddara and either the roasted cauliflower or the roasted eggplant.

Now that I understand the menu, ordering isn’t intimidating. But at the beginning it definitely was. When I bring friends, they often have me order for them. I recognize that it’s usually the same faces behind the counter (which is nice that they’ve had the same employees for years), but they don’t always seem very inviting when it comes to helping customers choose food.

If you’re new and want to walk down the line to look at the dishes before deciding, it can feel like you’re being rushed. It seems like they expect you to order right at the front of the counter before you’ve had a chance to see the full display. Sometimes when I want to take an extra 30 seconds to look, I get the feeling that they’d rather you hurry up.

Also, lately there hasn’t been pita bread out unless you ask for it.

The last two times I visited, they also didn’t have any fountain drinks available. I had to pick from their limited bottled options. I like diet drinks and they did not have any diet bottled drinks. Hopefully that’s been fixed.

I had a baby in 2024, and coming here with a child has made me notice a few other things. The high chairs are usually hidden in the back and there are only a couple of them. The straps are sticky and loose, so they don’t really secure a baby well. When I ask for one, it sometimes feels like I’m inconveniencing the staff. If they were just out in the open, I’d happily grab one myself.

Just a quick note for others: their patio is not dog friendly. I called recently because a friend visiting me wanted to bring her small dog, and they said no. I mention it because some websites list them as dog friendly. I’ve even seen dogs tied to their patio chairs before, so maybe the policy changed.

My last two visits were also a little disappointing food-wise. One plate had a lot of rice and potatoes but very little meat -- just a few slivers -- which hadn’t been my experience before. It was also heavily covered in what I believe was sumac. It might be nice if they asked before adding a lot of it, since I usually share food with my baby and she doesn’t love that flavor on it's own.

Another time they accidentally gave me beef shawarma when I had ordered lamb. I realized after I had already started eating it and didn’t have the energy to go back to the counter and say anything.

That said, I still enjoy Arpi’s and the food overall. I just wish the atmosphere felt a little more welcoming and that the experience had stayed as consistent as it used to be.“
