The food in general is great here but the Shrimp etoufee is heavenly. Succulent shrimps with fresh and crunchy onions and celery on top of perfectly cooked rice. I'm hungry again. Fast and good service. The best thing is that Treebeards is one of the few places in the tunnels you don't have to do that obligatory tipping on a screen.
This is my favorite secret non-secret lunch spot in downtown Houston. It's very convenient for folks working in downtown. It's a cafeteria style and the line does tend to get long but surprisingly runs very quickly. They could give Chick-fil-A a run for their money on efficiency. I have a few favorites from the regular menu. I have never put a bite of food in my mouth at Treebeards that I didn’t savor. I love this restaurant. I wish there were one closer to my house.Vegetarian options: Beans, Rice and Sumptuous Salads available.
