Agnes and Sherman delivered exactly what I hoped for an Asian diner fusion experience that exceeded my expectations. Our waiter was warm, inviting, and full of positive energy, which made the meal even more enjoyable. We loved everything we tried: the rangoon, scallion waffle, crawfish egg foo young, fried chicken, steak and frites, and shrimp—all packed with flavor. Though we were too stuffed for dessert, our server surprised my two friends with complimentary birthday ice cream, which made the evening even more special. I highly recommend Agnes and Sherman and can’t wait to come back to try more dishes!

Avoid the shrimp toast and masa cake but otherwise the cocktails and food are excellent. Highly recommend the lagoon, rice cakes and egg foo young. Definitely will return

This is a fun fusion! There dishes really hold to its true roots while twisting it up a bit .. love it. The cocktails were awesome as well .. pretty neat program here.

It is best to make a reservation on their website of you know your are coming here for dinner as it can get best and you will wait a bit for a table. This place is fancy but in an approachable way. I love the decor here, its modern and old school diner feel with a Chinese twist. Great service here, I also love the fact that they have to let us know the food was come out family stay, my friend and were planning to sharing everything we ordered already.

I also love the decor for the restroom here, I love when restaurant has a wash sink in the common area so you can wash your hands like a civilize human before you eat.

For the food we got, Savory Scallion Waffle, Chinese BBQ Club, Crispy Shell-On Shrimp. For the drink I got a non-alcohol, the Dou Milkshake. Everything was great with wonderful presentation. The Club was good but it did not wow me like the Shrimp and the Waffle. The food was a little bit too expensive for me, it was to be a special occasion for me to come back again.

The food and service here is incredible. The savory scallion waffle was so good. The butter…oh my goodnessssss! That was absolutely delicious. The waffle is a must order. The crispy shell on shrimp was also amazing with tons of flavor. The bread on the Chinese BBQ club was toasted to perfection and the bacon was perfectly crispy and went well with the char sui. We tried the dou milk shake too. Wasn’t my favorite, it was a little watered down for my taste, but my friend loved it. Overall great experience and everyone was super sweet and attentive. 10/10

Came on a Saturday with a few people. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered the waffle with sambal honey butter. It was so good. Everything the other people in my party ordered was good too (steak frites and fried rice) but the fries were the clear star for both of them. I will have to come back to try some more dishes.

Seems to me that reviews have gone soft the last few years. Everything is a 4.5 So i feel obligated to share my honest assessment of Agnes and Sherman, and hope that the criticism is taken constructively, because i really like the restaurant.

Pro - The place is great. Remodel is beautiful. Ambiance is fun. Service was really good - Andy was pleasant and let us take whatever time we needed, then the food came out FAST once we ordered. Also, the pricing is fair. So sick of super overpriced ultra hi-end places that serve mediocre food. So refreshing for these guys to choose to create a diner. Good for them.

Con - The food was just not great, other than the steak. Steak was super. Perfectly cooked. Fries awesome.

Started with waffle - it was fine. Cooked well, but kinda bland. Spread on it fine. Not blown away.
Krab Rangoon next - the krab concoction was bland. Chips good, concept fun. Sauce also bland. I love me some sweet chili sauce - a bottle in my fridge at all times. My hopes were high for something special. It was not. No zing. Just sweet.
Brussel sprouts were OK. Is anyone else a little tired of crispy brussel sprouts? Been around for a decade on every corner. If you serve them, they better be special. They were not.
Egg foo young - GREAT concept. Nice portion. Plenty of crawfish. But again, bland. Was expecting a flavor BOMB, and, again, it was not. Quality was fine. There was nothing wrong with it - it just didn't wow. I needed more gumbo gravy. And i needed the gumbo gravy to have way more flavor. Mother in law from Crowley LA would have been disappointed.

Ill be back cuz i want these guys to do well, the place is beautiful, i love a good meal that isn't $100/head, and the concepts were generally good. But jeez - be bolder!

I was bummed when Alice Blue closed last year but was so hyped to hear that Nick Wong’s new concept would be moving into the space. I eagerly followed along with the build out and was excited to try it for dinner the weekend after their official opening.

The space itself is great! Large dining room with a cheerful ambiance and the ability to hear your dining companions even with a lively crowd. Our dining experience started off strong but went downhill over the course of the evening.

When placing your order you are required to place everything at one time which I understand makes it less complicated for the kitchen but is not my preferred way to order. I did appreciate that our dishes were coursed out rather than coming out all at once but the time between dishes got longer and longer to the point where we were having to ask if things were still coming out. Our reservation was at 7pm and by 9pm one of our dishes had still not arrived at which time we had to cut bait and leave.

Dishes we enjoyed - Savory Scallion Waffle was delightful, Chilled Noodles were pleasantly oily but could have used some spice ditto for the Smoked Onion Patty Melt, Disco Fries were outstanding and had a Pho-like spice profile, Jian-BLT was absolutely delicious

Dishes we did not enjoy - Chilled Cumbers needed more spice or vinegar or acid, Chinese BBQ Club was too sweet and ultimately disappointing, Al Pastor Fried Rice was kind of one note in both flavor and texture, Chicken Fried Steak was just overall bland, Brussels Sprouts were again bland and needed some acid or spice

Dishes we were excited about but never got to try - Rice Cakes

They did such an amazing job with the build out of the space, and I love this team. I have faith they will figure things out, but this is my honest review from our initial experience.

I don’t have enough words to describe how truly INCREDIBLE this new spot on 19th St in the Heights is. 10/10 for EVERYTHING. Delicious food, drinks, fun twists on traditional Chinese cuisine, and just overall gives you the warm and fuzzy feeling! Do not miss out on the Agnes & Sherman dining experience!!! (P.S. you haveeee to get the Taiwanese disco fries and savory scallion waffles) SHOUT OUT TO LISA, CHEF NICKY, CHRIS, and the wonderful staff at A&S!!! So happy we have such an awesome new restaurant in the Heights!

Amazing overall experience!
Chris was our server and he was attentive and quick.
Atmosphere is like a cozy modern diner; open kitchen, bar top and window/diner-style seating (awesome natural light btw!)
We started with the crab rangoon and savory scallion waffle; both apps were great. Super fresh and flavorful, I would order these again in a heartbeat.
We then had our mains: the egg foo young and the steak frites. Again, both plates were absolute home runs; especially the bearnaise sauce and the ‘salt and pepper’ fries with the steak.
We paired our food with a classic Mexican coke and a Heights Ball.

Everything was beyond our expectations.
Thanks Agnes and Sherman!
We’ll be back. :)

The food did not taste like it looked. Everything was a surprise in the best way! The scallion pancakes and the egg woo fung were so so good. The rice cakes were just perfectly spiced. Excellent cocktails as well.

This place is a must! The friendly staff, the beautiful space, and the soul filling food - it was everything and more. The scallion waffle with sambal honey butter, tempura fried kimchi, warm egg foo young with crawfish, there’s so many delicious choices. Would encourage eating family style so you can try more things!
