Please avoid this place. They charged a cover when nothing special was even happening. We were overcharged for drinks and when we kindly asked the bartender why she caught an attitude and slammed our receipt on the table and stormed off. Will not be returning.

Came with a group of six, all of us clearly not their usual crowd. Asked if we could do $40 instead of $10 each for cover, and the guy goes, “This ain’t a flea market, brother.” Wasn’t being rude, just asked. The tone said more than the words. After reading other reviews, the vibe makes sense now.
Was racially discriminated against. Have even heard from people that work or have worked there that this place only wants a certain demographic in this place. Definitely avoid.

Not a good place at all. They stopped us for wearing open toed shoes stating that since people dance it can hurt. Yet right after us, they let a couple go inside wearing flip flops. For the bar; no matter what drink u ask them to make, they have reason not to make it. Food is basic. Staff is judgemental.

Don’t go here at all they discriminate people and make you pay to get in if you are a guy. It seems illegal what the bouncers are doing there. Go to other places around the area that are way better and not sexist like this place.

They only do “23+ age” which is ridiculous.

Cool (Cold AC) place to play bar games and hang out. Drinks are good and reasonably priced.

Bouncers pretty much run the place and every employee is trying to pull cash out of your pocket. They charge cover at the door if you're under 23 (some nights?), and charge guys an additional $20 just to go upstairs once you're inside. I also had to deal with an unexplained $500 credit card charge on top of my $100 check. There was clearly no rush to communicate or even solve the problem. This is a pretty frat place, meaning you can have a good time if you don't mind emptying your pockets.

If I could give zero stars, I would. My husband and I were turned away because of his jean shorts and his hand tattoo — yet we saw a staff member with a visible hand tattoo, and several women entering the establishment wearing jean shorts. The inconsistency in their dress code enforcement felt discriminatory, and frankly, I believe this establishment engages in biased practices. We were told that if we purchased a table, they might reconsider — but why would we spend our money somewhere that made us feel unwelcome from the start? We left feeling disrespected and disappointed.
This place is straight-up bigoted — not just racist and homophobic, but all about status and image. If you’re white, straight, or look like you belong in a frat, you’re good. They’ll pull the ‘dress code’ excuse on you if you don’t fit that mold, even while letting others in wearing the same thing. They let me in when I’m not with my wife — guess being straight-passing helps. It’s not about inclusion — it’s about curating a look. That’s the Heights for you.
The cop working the front had an ego trip and wouldn’t let our friend in. AND WE GOT A SECTION. Needless to say we canceled our section and won’t be coming back.

Used to come here when this bar first opened and really enjoyed it, but after my recent experience on a Saturday night, I won’t be returning.
I was upstairs dancing with a friend when a security guard approached and told me I had to leave — specifically me — claiming someone reported that I was intoxicated. I was shocked and upset, as I was simply dancing and had my head on my friend’s shoulder. We didn’t want to escalate the situation, so we calmly walked out, but the guard followed us all the way to the door.
When I asked for his name, he responded with attitude and told me not to worry about it. It felt unfair and targeted, especially knowing there were plenty of other visibly intoxicated people in the bar who weren’t asked to leave.
Unfortunately, the rumors in other reviews seem true — they do overcharge at the door, especially for men, and the energy here has definitely changed for the worse. This place wasn’t like this in the beginning. It’s disappointing to see how it’s gone downhill.
There are plenty of other bars in Houston with better service, better vibes, and better treatment of guests. I do not recommend this place anymore.
Made me pay $21 to get in yet the people in front of us didn't have to pay. Bouncer tried to get smart with me. What is going on houston? Do better!!! awful experience and they definitely discriminate. it was ONLY white people.
