Original review:
Love the food but they were talking crap in thai thinking we didn't understand. I'm not gonna keep supporting.

Updated review in response to owner:
No, you got the wrong person. I did not order tom sum.
we had 3 in our party( 2 adults 1 child) and we haven't been there recently. I just haven't had time to write the review.
We usually order the Rad na or thai boat noodle or fried rice.
On the day of our visit, there were no issues from us. the workers were sitting in the front near the cash register when we overheard the skinny girl server just casually complaining to the other workers that we were using too much napkins. Yes she was speaking thai or laos. laos is almost the same thing probably esaan or whatever. I could tell she didn't like us by the way she looked at us. Probably because we were khamain (khmer). she also did not bother to check up on us, tossed the food on the table without placing it in front of the correct person. This wasn't the first time the servers were rude but the other times we didn't hear them saying anything and kept going back for the food.

My husband and I came here for the first time in August after hearing so many good things about this place. We just moved to Houston a few months ago, and since my husband is from the Isan region, we were very excited to try it. We saw a lot of people online saying the food here tastes really authentic, so we had to check it out.

The restaurant is small but cozy, and when we came for Sunday lunch, it was almost full. That made me even more excited to try the food. Luckily, there was no wait at all.

My husband tried to order in his language, but the staff did not understand, and that was when we realized this restaurant is fully Thai, not Isan. Even though they did not have real Isan dishes, the service was very nice. The waitress was patient and careful with our order, especially since we had a few special requests, and everything came out exactly right.

Here is what we ordered:

Lao Sausage (Sai Gok): Served with sticky rice and a spicy tomato dipping sauce. The sausage was juicy and a good size, but I wish it had a little more spicy.

Crispy Chicken Skin: This was the best dish for both of us. Super crispy, flavorful, and it even came with sticky rice and dipping sauce. My husband said this was his number one favorite.

Nam Tok Neua (Grilled Beef Salad): This dish was okay, but for our taste, it was not as spicy or sour as we like. Still good, just a bit mild.

Papaya Salad (Thum Mak Hoong): We ordered the Isan version, and it came out really delicious. It was not the best we have ever had, but still better than most places we have tried.

Tom Yum Soup: Very flavorful, spicy, and served in a generous portion. We both enjoyed this one a lot.

We ordered everything at the Thai Hot level, which is the highest spice level, and everything came out exactly how we wanted. If you cannot handle spice very well, I recommend starting with level one.

Overall, we had a great experience. The food was tasty, the service was friendly, and we left full and happy. It may not taste exactly like true Isan food, but the flavor is still close and really good. Definitely recommend trying this place if you are in Houston.

Love the food here! I first found this spot on Yelp a few months ago when I was craving authentic Thai Som Tum. At first, I almost didn’t come because it’s a 40-minute drive from where I live, but I’m so glad I did, it’s totally worth it!

I’ve tried the Somtum Thai, Ko Lard, and the Thai boat noodles (with thick noodles in a dark, flavorful broth). Everything has been amazing. This is actually my third time back, and honestly, this place has the best Som Tum I’ve had so far. (Trust me, I’ve tried several Thai restaurants around River Oaks, TMC, downtown Houston, they were good, but this place is way better and so much more authentic!)

Saw this place while I was exploring google maps. The skin was crispy and not too greasy, it paired well with the sauce and sticky rice. Along with the chicken skin, my favorite has got to be the Nam Kaow. It was crispy, fragrant, and flavorful, as soon as I got home I immediately finished my leftovers! Pad Ka Pao was delicious as well, however the Nam Kaow (top right) stole the show for me. I’d definitely come back to try the other dishes.

I would give this place a 3.5/5! I came in on a Saturday night around 7:00 and it was pretty empty at first but later around 7:30, there were people waiting to be seated. This is the list of things I ordered:
Thai Ice Tea
Definitely on the sweeter side compared to most of the thai teas that I’ve had at other restaurants

Lao Sausage
I’m usually super picky with anything pork but the seasonings and spices were fantastic! And with the sauce and sticky rice, this is definitely an appetizer worth getting

Tum Poo Khem (papaya salad with salted crab)
If you’re getting this dish, make sure you really enjoy fishy flavors because I had a hard time finishing my serving. The salted crab was yummy but the sauce they used for the salad was too strong for me.

Thai Boat Noodles
I love how this gives you an option to choose either light/dark soup and thin/thick noodles. My bf got the dark and thick noodles. The soup was good, the meat was okay, but the noodles were meh

Tom Yum Noodles
The soup is definitely on the sweeter side which I enjoy but again, it’s personal preference bc my bf favors the broth to be more sour. The chicken and shrimp were good and the noodles were standard.

Mango Sticky Rice
This was unfortunately a let down. The mango was not ripe and it was on the hard side. The sticky rice’s flavoring was good but the texture was just okay.

Overall, there were some hits/misses but I would love to go back and try their other dishes.

I was invited here after a wedding. I had never had laotian food before, and let me tell you... It was amazing! I ordered the coconut soup, with shrimp (Kang Ka I think it was) the have a "hotness scale" for ordering your food, which was pretty cool I thought. (hotness 1-5) I ordered a 3, and it was not spicy at all. We all shared our dishes, so I can not tell you the other things I had, but I can tell you that everything I ate was to die for, and the coconut soup is now my all time favorite soup in the world...

The Tom Yum Noodle is my Favorite, especially to nurse a hang over, the staff and chef are amazing. You can definitely tell they know what they are doing back there, every time I have been here the food has been consistent and delicious.

p.s. if you're craving for something crispy, the chicken skins hit the spot.
