Hit or miss with the food. Beef noodle soup and congee is usually good. Dumplings is okay. Chinese hamburger is a toss up. Better choices nearby for Asian food.

Great dumplingsBao Shi Yi has quickly become one of my favorite spots in Houston for a comforting meal. Tucked into a cozy, clean space, it offers the kind of warm welcome you want first thing in the morning. The design is simple yet thoughtful, bright and uncluttered, making it just as good for a quick solo breakfast as it is for sitting down with friends to catch up.
The menu feels like a love letter to classic Chinese comfort food. Steamed buns come out soft and pillowy, the porridge is smooth and satisfying, and the warm drinks pair perfectly with everything. There’s a sense of balance here — nothing feels rushed or overly complicated, just honest flavors prepared with care.
What makes the experience stand out even more is the service. Staff are friendly, attentive, and quick without ever making you feel hurried. Every visit has been consistent, which is rare for busy breakfast spots.
All in all, Bao Shi Yi blends authentic flavors with a calm, inviting atmosphere. Five stars for being a true hidden gem in Houston’s dining scene.

Not sure if this place is still open for business. Drove here for Chinese breakfast but it was closed. So either the times listed on this Google maps is wrong OR they are closed. I would call ahead before coming here.
I would concern this place as Chinese food fast and you can get Chinese breakfast here. They are very fast on making your order but you can order online. They have buns and dumplings and they are all tasty, the milk tea are good here too. Great decoration in the restaurant.

Green onion dumplings good, soup dumplings ok but not as good as Trendy Dumpling, and Sichuan spicy wonton in red oil isn't very Sichuan or spicy. Prices are similar to Trendy Dumpling so I would just go there instead, though you may have to wait. We went here on a Friday afternoon at 2p and we were the only guests.

I wish the other location never closed but I still love this place! I used to have the breakfast pancake at least once a week!

Very delighted at having found this spot. There arent a lot of options for non-western breakfast in the area. The Chongqing style noodle was very well balanced, hearty and healthy. Donut and soy milk reminded me of mornings in Taiwan. Grapefruit tea was refreshing, and surprisingly not too sweet which is a common problem for me.
Highly recommend for those that don’t want to drive to Bellaire for breakfast.
We’ll be back for sure!

The place is nice and the service is good. But, the spaguetti they use is the wrong pasta. That kind of spaguetti is for Italian or American food. The REAL Chinese food is made with EGG or RICE NOODLES, the chef need to visit Chinatown and try the Real Chinese or Vietnamese food. Also, they need to add more Chinese spices like ginger, 5 season powder, chives, onions head, etc.

Has been closed early all three times I’ve tried to eat there, even when I arrived an hour before the listed time.

This one is supposed to close at 7:30, but I got here at 7 and they are closed. There’s no one inside (cleaning or conducting other closing tasks) so I guess they closed very early.

This location seems to close at random - unfortunately not the first time I’ve tried to come and they are just closed without warning. In this case, they were closed at 7 but are meant to be open until 7:30 according to google, and until 8 on their own site.
