It was the last day of service for them. I took my daughter to enjoy one last meal of one of our favorite restaurants in Houston!  The atmosphere, the chef, the food, the wine, the staff, the service everything was always impeccable.  I will truly miss  everyone!  My daughter is going to miss those eggplant fries, as it was her favorite. I was not allowed to even taste one, i had to get order!! ha ha h  Best wishes to everyone. Love you all!!❤️❤️

Sad to say that 6/22/2025 was Bistro Menil's last day. They are officially closed. We are hoping a new restaurant will come and occupy this facility.

We had a wonderful "Last Supper" lunch on Bistro Menil's final day, June 22nd. The duck confit and the crab salad were both superb, as was the creme brulee.

What an amazing restaurant. We have loved eating here for the past ten years or so. The patio in Spring was always perfect. The food was phenomenal, as was the wine selection. I had the best rigatoni of my life here about 7 years ago. Will miss this place dearly. So glad we were able to go once more this week.

The fried calamari and crab cakes were wonderful. I will miss chef being so careful to make my meals gluten free. The champagne I had was very good. I have dined here since they opened. I will miss Bistro Menil a lot.

Bistro Menil is closing and this was our farewell dinner. We shared eggplant fries, crab cakes and a great bottle of Chardonnay! Thanks for the service and the ambiance and being a restaurant right by the museum! We like that aspect of Bistro Menil. Thank you to the Chef and the servers- all the staff!

The place is shutting down on June 22nd and I had a $70 gift card I needed to use from last year when my group went to afternoon tea there (also mediocre and overpriced). I honestly don't understand why people like this place so much and why it's always so crowded. It's deafeningly loud in there, the tables are too close together, servers are polite but harried and rushed. Drinks took a while to come out. We were given regular menus but not brunch menus and had to get one from the people at the table next to us. The duck was good. Lemonade was good. The expensive ($27) 12-hour beef short rib was so dry that it was hard to chew. The potatoes were mediocre. By the time I got someone over to the table to explain that it was overly dry, my dining companion was already finished with is entree. They offered to replace mine for a different entree, but at that point I didn't really want to wait for another entree. They could have comped us a dessert but they didn't. We ordered one anyway because we were both still hungry from the small portions. (Tarte tatin: It was actually the best thing on the menu.) The bill ended up being $125 for 2 people (2 entrees, 1 dessert, 1 lemonade). Ridiculous! This was my third and final time at this restaurant and I will not miss it.

Cute bistro right next to Menil collection. They have a great selection for brunch, it's one of our favorite brunch places to bring friends. They also have a great take out special that my husband and I love.
