We have such a great experience at this restaurant. From the food to the service everything was great. I have the turkey burger. My friend had the egg Benedict and everything was made well! Jamie was very polite and was able to help us get our drinks and anything else we needed!

Waited for staff to attend me. Took me to engage someone. They had 4 guys literally around me and not one asked if need anything. The worse part of this place is they do not accept Cash! Part of the evil coming now. We have no freedom to spend our hard earned money. No matter where or who you are. We should have the FREEDOM to pay with CASH. Not recommended to come to a place that is just for looks. Not for the community.

This place has become one of my favorite places for breakfast.
The customer service is outstanding, prices are pretty fair, and food is awesome.
Ice cream and desserts are delicious.

Nobody in Houston does Happy Hour like Black Walnut Cafe—literally. Bartenders not only serve tasty bites and unique cocktails to its post-workday crowd from 3 to 6:30 p.m.; they also open their doors to night-shift nurses and other nocturnes as early as 7 a.m. The cuisine is melting pot “American” with a Southwestern spin. Where else do you have a choice between spicy vindaloo chicken wings or spicy carnitas tacos to go with your spicy pineapple margarita? I recommend getting all three and then cooling down with either a boozy bourbon milkshake or your flavor-ite gelato. Black Walnut’s Rice Village location is better known for brunch, but you can get the same bacon jam deviled eggs and pimento cheeseburgers any day of the week—with less hassle—on Memorial Drive.

While visiting the area we had dinner here one night, then gave them a second chance and had breakfast. Servers not interested in engaging with us, impatient to take our order. Food was just OK. Too much breading on the fish, terrible cole slaw, mediocre cobb salad. Blueberry jam served with lemon cake. For breakfast, the challah French toast was served slathered with icing and syrup. No choice of toast (I am allergic to most nuts and seeds) served with American breakfast and accompanied by the same blueberry jam. Eggs underdone. Grits and bacon were good! Ambiance is OK. Annoyed by having to order at the counter, then pay for breakfast (including a tip) before we were even served our food by the disinterested waiter. Also, for dinner we had to pay our waiter directly on his credit card device - including the tip while he stood there and held the device. We will not be back.
