We love the variety here. We like the brats, the schnitzel, and the various chicken dishes. My kids also always ask for the escargot, whether or not it's on the menu. They also have a nice second story covered patio, and so far we've never had trucks parking. The last time we went, there was some very nice live music, and we all had a great time.

Blue Tuba is easily one of Houston’s best hidden gems — the kind of place you almost want to keep secret, but it’s too good not to share. From the moment you walk in, it feels charming and intimate, with a cozy European café atmosphere that somehow feels worlds away from the city while still being right at home in Houston.

The restaurant is absolutely adorable — warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed — but what truly makes Blue Tuba special is the food. The chef beautifully blends classic European flavors with influences from Czech, German, and Balkan traditions, creating dishes that feel both authentic and fresh. Every plate is rich with flavor, comforting without being heavy, and clearly crafted with passion and attention to detail.

It’s rare to find a place that delivers both a memorable dining experience and food that keeps you thinking about it long after you leave, but Blue Tuba does exactly that. Whether you’re looking for a unique date-night spot or simply want to try something different from Houston’s usual dining scene, this is a must-try restaurant — and very likely to become one of your new favorites.

Spacious dining room. Great shaded terrace. German/Czech beers on tap. Food came fast. Excellent goulash. There's free parking behind the restaurant, but the lot is small.

We were really excited to try this place for Valentine’s Day, which makes this review even more disappointing to write. We ordered a three-course meal, and unfortunately, everything was very bad except for the mussels, drinks, and desserts. The duck was served with vegetables that were cold, not warm, not room temperature, but noticeably cold (could have been frozen vegetables) which completely took away from the dish. The stroganoff was extremely underwhelming and tasted like something straight out of a Lean Cuisine box. For the price point and presentation, the quality just wasn’t there. To make matters worse, within almost an hour of eating, we were extremely sick, which was alarming and completely unacceptable for any establishment.

Service was also incredibly disappointing. It took over an hour to receive what appeared to be premade food, and our waitress completely forgot about us for long stretches of time. What made it worse was watching her consistently attend to the white couples seated around us while we struggled to even get basic attention. We had made reservations, arrived early, and were polite and patient the entire time. We did nothing to warrant being overlooked. When we said we had waiting an hour for our food, the waitress conveniently brought our food out, which tells me it had probably been ready for a while.

The atmosphere was beautiful, and the musician was amazing and truly the highlight of the evening. That was the only redeeming part of the experience.

Overall, the experience was extremely underwhelming and honestly upsetting. I had such high hopes for this place, but I would not return based on the food quality, the service, and how we were treated. $200 down the drain for bad food and neglectful service.

Dislike reviewing this way, but the online menu doesn't represent what's on the actual menu. Me and the wife wanted german cuisine/sausages however the meat lovers fest was unavailable and coming from near porter solely for this dish caused a road block for an easy lovely evening. We instead got the escargot app, currywurst, and European flight. The cevapcici will be a dish i come regularly for, it was amazing. Escargot, meat was a little small, however cooked perfectly, not rubbery, with great butter and garlic flavors. Would never recommend the currywurst, fries were ok but that's the best compliment of the dish. Came wanting the german sausages and sides and ended with multiple dishes that just weren't up to what we wanted. By no means it was bad, we left happy and full with empty plates, but with driving over 40 mi
minutes for a specific dish that's on the online menu and finding out that it's not something they offer left a bad taste in my mouth

Ordered mushroom ravioli and they gave me beef stroganoff. The cucumber and cheese in the salad was frozen

Nice quiet atmosphere, good service, but the food disappointed. We had the Schnitzel and the tenderloin. Both were extremely bland as if the kitchen ran out of salt or something. The red cabbage and the cucumber sides were good and fresh, but the lack of flavor on the entrees at that price point will keep me from returning.

Love Blue Tuba! The best patio in the Heights. Plus it has a great happy hour with several great wines and Central European appetizers. I love coming here around 4 PM on a Friday for wurst, pierogi, and a glass of wine. This place helps me miss Poland a little less ❤️😭
