Pros: I like a coffee shop that offers more than pastries and Brass Tacks has just that. Their breakfast tacos are delicious and so is the Chai (and sometimes I'll grab a blueberry muffin). The cons: Parking is a nightmare. The music is so loud even with noise cancellation headphones. It's very distracting. And the chances of finding a place to sit is insane.

The employees are friendly. The ice coffee is decent with no harsh flavors. The breakfast taco had a really nice tortilla that tasted homemade. Lots of seating types inside and outside. Small parking lot and street parking available. Not a good place for study and conversation due to the loud music.

In love with this place and everything it brings. My personal go-to is the Viet coffee, cannot get over how delicious it is. ALSO! can we talk about how amazing their happy hour is, I love me some 5 dollar margaritas. They weren't kidding when they said brass tacks is the number one spot for a busy morning or to wine down at night. If you haven't tried them yet, what are you doing? Get over there!

I just started looking for study spots in Houston and I have already fell in love with this one. The tomatoes basil soup was super flavorful and the tables are perfect for studying in private or in groups.

We were power washing the community across the street and got several drinks and sandwiches throughout the day. Great place … highly recommend!

Excellent coffee shop/bar/restaurant in EaDo with fantastic coffee and delicious food. It’s usually a bit crowded but you can always find a seat somewhere; inside, at the bar or outside. The baristas are always friendly and polite and love to make suggestions.

Someone suggested to go to this place to sit and work.
Let me summarize my visit.
Coffee extremely bad , even McDonald has better then this.
Tried the patty melt which was quite average as well.
The soda is in a To go glass filled with ice all the way to the top and just maybe two sips of Diet Coke which I ordered in it.
Not everyone can say easy on the ice .
They must ask when taking the order.
Loud loud loud hippie shaking music.
Very disturbing.
It was busy at 7:30 pm on Saturday,,,, but that doesn’t mean u don’t look at the restrooms. Dirty and wet floors there.
Must check on em regularly when there’s so much foot fall.
One team member was roaming around adjusting the lamps on the table,,, didn’t understand what was the deal with that practice.
Well that about it .
Not impressed at all.
But everyone out there must try is once cause maybe my experience was on a wrong day.

Wow! A Houston gem, easily the best coffee shop in the city. Incredible food, thoughtful and luscious atmosphere and the customer service is the cherry on top!

Stopped in here like 25 minutes before closing and they were so awesome!! Friendly staff and beautiful space.
We ordered a Cuban sandwich, a Thai tea latte, and a Nutella crepe that was all incredibly yummy. Then we ordered a cookie on the way out and it was FREAKING fantastic. And warmed to perfection! Will come again for sho!

Brass Tacks is hands down one of the best places in Houston to get work done outside the office. Nestled in the heart of East End, this space feels more like a thoughtfully designed coworking café than a typical coffee shop. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a blend of clean aesthetics, natural light, and just the right amount of ambient buzz—ideal for focus without feeling isolated.
The seating options are fantastic. Whether you prefer a communal table for spreading out your work, cozy booths for a more tucked-away feel, or couches for casual laptop sessions, there’s something for every work style. There’s even a spacious outdoor patio, which is shaded and surprisingly cool even in Houston’s heat—perfect for switching up the vibe or hopping on a call.
Wi-Fi is fast and reliable, and outlets are generously available throughout the space (a huge win). They’ve really thought through what remote workers and creatives need to stay productive. The vibe is calm and respectful—lots of people reading, writing, coding, or in quiet conversation.
On top of that, the coffee is excellent. Their espresso drinks are top notch, and there’s a great selection of teas and craft drinks. Later in the day, they also serve beer and cocktails if you want to unwind post-work. The staff is friendly, quick, and genuinely seem to enjoy working there.
Overall, Brass Tacks strikes that rare balance between café comfort and work-ready functionality. It’s welcoming, stylish, and clearly built with community and productivity in mind. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a workspace away from home or the office—especially if you appreciate good coffee and great design.

Came here to study but the music is too loud and vigorous, even through noise blocking headphones. The staff constantly yell out people's names when orders are ready - not a great system for such a large space. Nice space otherwise for hanging out with friends.
