Very cool to see! The guided tour walks you around the large cistern, and talks about its history. She also sang (which was absolutely beautiful) to show how the acoustics work. She also turned out all the lights and the whole pool of water looked like a perfect mirror. Definitely not something you see every day and we're glad we saw it!
Grew up in Houston and didn't even know about the existence of the cistern. Our tour guide was awesome and the cistern was an incredible sight. Highly recommend you check out this place, and help support a great nonprofit, Buffalo Bayou Partnership. Good place to take the family.

This experience is not long, but totally worth it for a cool and different date. We did the light show option and really enjoyed learning something and doing a different activity for a date. Then you can walk after and enjoy the bayou. Bathrooms are available and food trucks are sometimes there too.
