We went to Annie Cafe' on Monday night, early, and just after Thanksgiving, so it was almost empty! The service, food, ambiance are all excellent. It was very quiet, although it is usually pretty load, when full of people. It was a lovely celebration of sorts.
Dear Annie Cafe and Bar Beverage Director/ Sommelier- placing Ruffino (retail $7 - $12) that can be purchased at any drugstore or gas station on the menu is not a good look for one of the Berg Hospitality Group's dining establishments. Please reach out to one of your distributors and replace it with a decent on premise brand, like Fantinel. Just a suggestion...but for the love of all that is sacred REMOVE RUFFINO! Wine regards, TUW
Our waiter was attentive personable and entertaining. The manager visited us and was a true professional. Highly recommend.
Amazing brunch! Everything was great and the eggs Benedict to die for. The cinnamon French toast was also super delicious. A great place for the weekend brunch!
Great anniversary experience! It was Halloween, so the place was about 1/4 full, which accounts for the low noise level and the relaxed, unhurried meal. Everything was fabulous, with two very minor complaints. (1) we are accustomed to reduced salt, but did not ask for that, and so the scallops in particular were salty for us. (2) there was a very small amount of grit in the spinach, which indicates not quite sufficient washing. But as I said these are very minor complaints against an overwhelmingly fabulous dining experience! Excellent shrimp cocktail, beet salad, bread with olive tapenade, and mocktails (lavender lemonade). Great glass of champagne as well! Would certainly go there again when in Houston.
We recently dined at this restaurant and had mixed feelings about our experience. The food was above average, on par with other nice Houston restaurants and our server was wonderful. He was attentive, had great menu recommendations, and was very apologetic about the situation we encountered. Unfortunately, the noise level completely overshadowed the meal. When we arrived, one of the halls had been rented out for a private party, but it was clearly over capacity. Multiple doors to the hall were left open, and guests were spilling out into the main dining area. The noise was so overwhelming that I couldn't even hear my husband speaking less than a foot away. We asked to be seated elsewhere, but even in another section it was still extremely loud. Eventually, we chose to sit outside, even though it had just rained, just to have some peace and be able to talk. By the time we finished dinner, the crowd had grown even larger, and many of the party guests had migrated into the restaurant and bar area. never did i see management or anyone else go tell them that this was inappropriate (maybe they didnt think it was?) While the food and service were very good, the management needs to be more mindful of capacity limits and how private events affect the experience for regular diners. It's unfortunate because this could have been a lovely evening. My husband even mentioned he wouldn't want to return after that experience.
A deeply disappointing Sunday brunch Staff were not ready for their 11am opening We waited 10 minutes to place a drinks order another 12 to receive it and my food had to be sent back being way too salty. One of my guests had cold food. I chose a blueberry muffin as my alternative and was charged $12 for two that took a further 8 minutes to arrive There was a table beside us serving 12 adults and a small child. The loud music from his tablet went unchecked I had expected a member of staff to request it was turned down a little. Alas, nothing. On leaving I did, quietly, express my severe disappointment in the whole occasion and explained I would be placing a review to this effect. The salmon plate at $43 was ridiculously small. All in all I think this is a pretentious diner that needs to pay much more attention to customer service. And timely serving of food.
I had the most incredible time at the angels bourbon dinner event with 3 course meal. Everything from the host (Blake), to the manager (Sean), to the speakers were incredible. The food was perfectly prepared and brought out in a professional manner that even while serving 30 people everyone ate at the same time. The drinks were top tier and I learned a new love for bourbon. They were extremely courteous and took us the private speakeasy in the back afterwards which was full of the best live music and after dinner drinks. Can not recommend this place enough. They have a new customer for life!
Worse beef tartare I have ever tasted. Beef was brown as it was swimming in vinegar and very salty
The Annie Café is one of those Houston staples that actually lives up to its reputation. I always come in hungry (and on a schedule), and walk out full and impressed.
The burger today was a standout—challah bun, chipotle mayo, LTO, pickles, and chunky herb steak fries. It sounds simple, but the flavor balance was dialed in. The cotija roasted corn and jalapeño grits were rich, salty, creamy, and exactly the kind of sides that make you slow down between bites even if you’re in a rush.
Michael took care of us with a level of attention that didn’t feel forced or rehearsed. He was upbeat, efficient, and somehow made it feel like we had all the time in the world even though he knew we were on a clock. We left on time without ever feeling rushed.
He even invited us to Emilia's Havana, the Cuban speakeasy attached to and hidden in the café. I've had the pleasure of visiting this summer and will write a separate review. Love this place!

The Annie is a beautiful restaurant although I only made it to the bar area. The service and attention to detail are incredible. My caesar salad and branzino were delicious and the cocktail paired perfectly. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening.
Guston is my favorite waiter there. They don't quite get my steak done as rare as I like it but they do the best they can. They are very friendly. We sat in the sunroom area and it was noisy. We had the grilled sourdough bread as a starter, and the bread was greasy from the griddle. So we ordered another round of just toasted, which was excellent. The tortilla soup is one of my standbys and it didn't disappoint.
