Captain Benny’s on south.main use to be one of the best seafood spots to eat at back I the day. Wow how things have changed here! I ordered 12 fried jumbo shrimp (seasoned). I wish y'all could have seen what they call jumbo nowadays, it had no flavor at all and it taste like it was cooked in old grease. The coleslaw was dry with no flavor. My husband had whole FLAVORLESS catfish! We will never go back. Food was horrible. They need to reevaluate their recipes!

As a Customer of Capt'n Benny's for several decades, this restaurant is a sad shadow of its heydays. I visited the CB's on Main St.on Nov. 22nd and the food portions where meager at best. A waste of twenty-six dollars, not including tip. The four fried shrimp sizes where fileted smaller in the width of a half-dollar, and thickness of 1/4". The vegetable medley portion was only seven spoon fulls, if that. And then they used popcorn shrimp in the dish. Ridiculous!!! I've had better tasting Hushpuppies at Long John Silver's! The

I was very disappointed that the waitress 'mislead' me by saying that the three shrimp 'came' with the cod fish special for $16. When I got the bill for over $20, I mentioned it to her and she said it was $3 extra for three shrimp. I told her, she didn't tell me that. She told me that it 'came with' the cod fish. That was misleading! I had taken her at her word. She apologized, but didn't do anything about it. I asked for the manager, and told her, and she didn't do anything about it either. I never knew of a manager that didn't do anything about satisfying a customer's legitimate complaint, and correcting it, since it was the waitress who misled the customer. I was very disappointed in the manager, and I was disappointed that the waitress did not even bring it up to the manager. I feel that the manager should have adjusted the bill for my being misled. I am not a frequent customer, and was very unhappy.
Parking: A manager should always satisfy the customer if there was a problem. Although this was a concerning situation on my part, she still received a 15% tip.

I don't really know what to say about this place without sounding negative. I feel that they want to be welcoming but just couldn't quite bring themselves to do it.
The food and portions were adequate for the price, and although the workers verbally welcomed me in, I just never actually felt like I was welcome.
To be fair, I did tell them I was picking up for "DJ" rather than "Dennis, and I was initially off one number of my phone number but that didn't help my overall sense that they'd rather be helping somebody other than myself.
On tall male employee never spoke. Just lurked near me on the other side of the bar.
That being said, sometimes things aren't what they seem. Another person may feel like this is their second home.
I just didn't get that vibe.
