They didn't seem to be open for business when we came. We were the only people there, and no one else came in the whole time we were there. The gumbo was pretty good, the corn nuggets were very good, the chicken fried chicken was alright. While there and looking at everything there l couldn't help wonder what this place was like at it's hay day.
I’m late on writing my review but a conversation tonight about this great restaurant made me think about it.We had a large group to feed after my father’s funeral. This was the only place that was willing to accommodate us in that area. We could not have asked for a better place to help us gather during such a sad time. The food was fabulous, the service was great and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. We have told many people about having such a great experience at feeding everyone. Thank you!
Kid-friendliness: Good menu items for kids
Parking: Super easy parking
Decorated with old carriages and horse tack, old horse photos and antique furniture. Great atmosphere. Food is good. Steaks, chicken salads.Restrooms are clean except toilets have flushing problems.
Parking: Parking lot is dirt with some large holes
Best chicken fried steak I have had in awhile. This is off the beaten path and they clearly are showing off their passion around buggies and carriages. Something different...people we nice and food was great.
We love this place! ...Betty and owners are great ...waitress kitchen help very nice they work hard to make it !! Worth visiting like a western museum!! Wish I could help them out more ..parking lot gravel ...yard service...very proud of owner daughters for her strength! If you can help out surprise them and just do it!! Leave business cards!! Hugs to them great time there ..go see and eat ..worth it!
This is the best chicken fried steak I ever had. Absolutely delicious! My compliments to the cook.
We had a wonderful lunch... A big cheese burger with fresh fry's, a very juicy 16oz chicken fried steak with a well refresh salad and sweet potato and a very yummy and juicy chicken over mashed Potatoes, with some yummy onions rings and corn nuggets!!! I didn't take pictures....we got to exited and ate everything!! Definitely coming back again.
We really enjoyed our meal here. Everything was very fresh, portions were generous, and you can't beat the prices. We both had the chicken fried steak which was absolutely delicious! The sides were all fresh and tasty as well. We'd certainly go back.
Stay away. Stay far, far away.I'm doing this review will sitting in the cafe itself. The cleanliness of the tables is poor. The majority of the tables are littered with dishes, they make you pay Upfront for a reason. Though literally there are only three tables waiting to receive Food, I have been waiting over 45 minutes for a burger. Considering this is a lunch crowd and does not serve dinner, you'd think they'd be able to do better. The burger was not bad, but considering I ordered a jalapeno burger I didn't get it it was a disappointment. Also it was raw in the middle. The gumbo was mediocre. And they brought out the rice 10 minutes after they go to the lukewarm gumbo. They literally had no utensils so I had to wait three minutes to go to spoon to eat the gumbo. Not only will I never return, I actually I'm afraid that I'm going to get some sort of disease from raw hamburger. Please, for your own safety, stay away.
Our group of 12 arrived at 12 noon. Ordering was a very slow process. Some ordered onion rings only to find they were out of OR’s. My turn, order the 2 meat BBQ combo. Ribs ( no ribs). Brisket, was told they just ran out. I ask how that was when they had just opened at 11:30 am (no answer). Was told only BBQ available was sausage. I settled for the sausage. Took 30-40 minutes to bring our food.Soda/ice machine out of order (self serve). There was a small bowl with ice, but emptied after 3-4 people got ice. Refilled the bowl about 15 minutes later. Eating utensils were dirty and sticky.Parking lot has several big pot holes, which limits parking spaces, as well the lot had several big water puddles which also made parking inconvenient.I don’t see how this place stays in business.I will not be returning, and would not recommend anyone to eat there.

GREAT Chicken Fried Steaks ..... mmmmmm ....one pound CFS .... salad and one side .... $14.95 .... WOW !!.Yes .... Looks a little run down on the outside .... CRAZY amount of Antiques on the inside .... Will be returning ... again and again and Again !!
Roach alert. Wanted to try this place based on the 4 star reviews. Should've read them all. Paid at counter. Large, dark interior that was empty other than 3 people eating and a random woman sitting at a table looking at her phone. We went to back of restaurant where they said the drinks were. Soda machine out of order, tea containers empty, ice in an open container with utensils laying on top. Man appeared from loft area with an oversized measuring cup looking container with water to drink. We were so grossed out and about this time, spotted ROACHES everywhere - just as another reviewer posted previously. We immediately went to counter and requested a refund. This is the weirdest and creapiest restaurant experience I have EVER had. OMG (Looked back at old Yelp reviews and looks like drink machine has been broken for years…..
I really wanted to love the food here. I honestly did. The food wasn’t fresh and my burger patty was red in the middle and soggy. The okra tasted like it was from the frozen food section from a store. Again, I really wanted to love the food. The place, itself, is ABSOLUTELY beautiful and gives off a home like feel. I think this place should change their menu to some real home cook fresh meals, even a breakfast menu would definitely make me give them another chance. Breaks my heart to have to pass by this establishment almost daily and I just can’t bring myself to stop there to eat. I absolutely would be willing to give them by business if the menu changed some or if the food there would taste better.
nice place... my kiddos love it..
This place is a throw back of a Texas that is long gone in the Houston area. It has a unique atmosphere for sure with antiques and carriages all around you. My wife and I have been here many times and have yet to be disappointed, the food is excellent and the people are super friendly.
