I am in Houston for work and was looking for a quick craft beer after a long day.
I found City Acre brewing from solid ratings. After a beer, I planned to go get dinner in the area… my plans changed as soon as I arrived.
I was fortunate to get there moments before the kitchen closed. I ordered the brewery burger with pepper jack and a side of fried green tomatoes and a spicy dipping sauce. Everything. Was. Amazing.
I washed it down with an oatmeal stout, and the 3day weekend hazy with a splash of peach sour that was baller.
James, the head brewer was working the bar and I chatted with him for nearly a half hour about his beers, other recommended craft beer in town, sports and more. Super nice dude.
All in all, the beer, food, and service were off the charts and I’ll be back later in the week.

Wings are some of the best I’ve had traveling the world. We found this place on a google maps search just wanting to escape the airport on a long layover. The beers fantastic. Staff very friendly. Go!

Best Wing Night Ever — Thanks to Don, James, and Katy!
We hosted our seasonal HotOnes-style chicken wing challenge at City Acre Brewing, and it was hands-down the best one we've ever done. From the moment we arrived, Don (chef), James (brewer), and Katy (bartender) treated our small group like royalty.
🍗 Don’s smoked wings are massive, juicy, and packed with flavor—easily the best wings I’ve ever tasted. They elevated the challenge to a whole new level.
🍺 James curated beer pairings for each sauce, which added a whole new dimension to the experience. His knowledge and enthusiasm made the tasting both fun and educational.
🍹 Katy was a rockstar, timing our wing orders perfectly and keeping everyone hydrated and happy throughout the heat.
🎲 And the cherry on top? The board game room next door! You can sip James’s brews and enjoy Don’s food while playing a round of Catan. It’s the kind of place where community, creativity, and culinary excellence come together.
If you're looking for a place that goes above and beyond for events—or just want incredible wings and beer—City Acre is it.

Drinks are amazing even if you don't want alcohol they had a nonalcoholic ginger beer that was really good! Food is great too! The wings are always delicious!

This is a great hidden gem in Houston. I love the buffalo chicken flatbread pizza with extra pickles. It’s great and the owner and everyone that works here is so kind! Try it out.

In a realm where swagger reigns supreme, You roll up, and it’s like a dream— A gritty vibe, the hood’s embrace, Sam Houston’s heart would find its place.
The fare, the spirits, bold and grand, Each dish a tale from this wild land. Six plates we savored, none the same, Defying thoughts of what we came.
I sing of only the finest spots, No time to waste on lesser lots. This haven stole my heart entire, Each bite, each sip, a soul’s desire.
The Derby Burger, a glorious mess, Its flavors dance, we must confess. Fried green tomatoes, a Southern delight, Each crispy bite ignites the night.
Wings that blaze with fiery might, A daring heat, a bold invite. Ginger beer, my wife’s sweet muse, Like hibachi’s charm, it does enthuse.
Yet the East Texas Cream Ale, oh my, The smoothest nectar beneath the sky. No beer in life has matched its grace, It claims my heart, my timeless chase.
James, the brewmaster, brash and fun, His edge, his jest, like a loaded gun. That attitude, it seals the deal, A spark, a memory, raw and real.
You must embark, this place to know, Its spirit calls, its fires glow. P.S. My son, at twenty-two, Found nerd’s delight in games anew— D&D, Catan, Monopoly’s call, A geek’s nirvana, joy for all.
