I've seen mixed reviews about this place but it was all around great for us. Yes it's a bit pricey but well worth the quality and the portions. My suggestion is get a few sides and 1 entree and share with someone. The pea salad is a must and strawberry shortcake!

Nothing wrong with the service or the place really it's just I've eaten here twice now and I'm just not a fan of the food. It's expensive. $73 for 2 people. We both got a regular meal with 2 sides, both got a dessert, and one of us got a coke the other water. First I wish they offered fountain drinks. Feels like the prices you pay should at the very least offer unlimited refills on drinks. I think maybe they only do that for tea or lemonade not 100% sure but cokes are canned only. The food really lacks flavor to me. The green beans were bland. The Mac n cheese was ok. The chocolate cake really didn't have a lot of flavor either and I was shocked because it looked so good. I have eaten at lubys my whole life so maybe that's what I'm comparing it to and to me lubys has way more flavor at a fraction of the cost. I get the appeal with lubys locations closing and if you're nearby and wanting cafeteria food but if you're craving lots of flavor go somewhere else.

At 4PM on a weekday, I wanted Ham. On the menu it list Ham as one of the meats. I have had Cleburne Ham before and it is great. Being 4PM I asked for Ham and was told they did not have any. Being in the first day of the week with such a menu they should have had ham. If they were out someone should have taken the item of the menu. I love eating at Cleburne but for them in early afternoon to be out of ham and never taken it off the menu. I eat a Cleburne a lot and love there fried fish, chicken fried steak and also ham. Today I was wanting ham. I was polite and went through the line and never got one thing, no food no drink. My wife got salmon patties and other sides. Just wanted to express my disappointment on this todayl

My first visit and last time here. I heard good things about this restaurant so i was excited to go. I was so disappointed. Most of the food was not cooked well. Especially the meat. The prime beef ribs was so undercooked my son could not eat it, it was to expensive $34.95 to dispose of so we it we took it home to finish cooking it. The same for the roast beef. The turkey and dressing was somewhat decent but where was the turkey? It was hidden under the gravy and dressing barely any turkey. For the sided dish being the prices that they was the portion size was sad. But the two stars was for breads and the wonderful desserts now they was delicious. The bottom line is each to their own. Try it for yourself, it made be how you like your food. Am sorry, it was not all that my friend made it out to be. Spending $156,29 on my friend birthday dinner could been groceries for 4 days. We was disappointed

Absolutely overhyped. All of the food is bland and flavorless. The cuisine is traditional American food, but it might be a little TOO traditional for me, it felt like eating recession food. I nearly reached for hot sauce to drench my meat in, something I never ever do in restaurants. I did not like that every single thing is priced individually, I’ve seen places like this that offer a “combo” where you choose one entree and 2 sides.
I do appreciate that they likely get up super early to prepare a large quantity of food (lots of variety and you can tell they employ lots of different techniques). The food itself takes skill to prepare and they serve up large portions, but that hardly means much when you’re forcing yourself to swallow just one bite. I also wish they had labels in front of each platter, we didn’t know what a lot of the food in the line actually was and I think we ended up choosing the worst entrees at the restaurant.

Excellent food at Cleburnes. Wife and I feasted on the huge portion sizes. Service came by several times to refill drinks. Only downside is that the pricing is a tad high.
When we visited last week, the kitchen ran out of beef liver & onion. The chicken liver we had as a consolation was dried and not as tasty. The poached salmon was not on par. First Responder or Military do not have any discount and the price/bill was a bit steep. However, the waitstaff were very hard working and excellent. We were grateful to have the food and the experience though 🙏

Stopped in for the 1st time. I had the chicken fried steak, side of mac and cheese, mushrooms, and cucumber salad. The food was decent. Did need add salt to all my dishes and I normally don’t use table salt. The CFS was a thin cut with an even breading and a good size. I had it with white gravy. Nothing fancy other than price. Better options for CFS in Houston. The sides were good but nothing to rave about. The service was great. Someone walked around with a cart refilling and checking on everyone. Overall the atmosphere was excellent.
