Tried this place on a whim. Menu is pretty straightforward and service was decent. The sandwich itself, there’s a lot to be desired. More bread than meat and toppings. There was literally one piece of ham and one piece of salami on each half with a small slice of cheese shared between both. Not sure what others consider a good sandwich/sub but for me this is not.

I have been craving a muffaletta sandwich and was close to the Dixie Deli. Never have been here but thought I would give it a try. Service was ok, but not impressed with the sandwich. First, wrong type of bread. It was created on a poor boy bread that was outstanding but not used for a Muffaletta. This is what makes the true difference between the two sandwiches and cane not be substituted. The sandwich was also a little thin on fillings as well. Not saying to skip this place, but skip the Muffaletta

Very upset with this place. A co worker of mine went to get a club sandwich for lunch. This was her first time. First of all, when she walked in there were three ladies sitting at the table doing paperwork and one was eating. NOT one of them acknowledged her or greeted her . ( they did work there) Then, she waited for about 2-3 minutes for them to wait on her. She asked a question about the club sandwich and the lady seemed irritated. She ordered and when she got back to work her club sandwich was NOT a CLUB sandwich it was just a regular sandwich and her bread was toasted to much!!! For $12.99 it should have looked like the picture. Very disappointed and a lot of our office staff goes there on a regular basis.

Was on the phone with my husband when he told her a traditional Pastrami on Rye just mustard and cheese...I got a Pastrami on Italian, no cheese.

The wheat roll was light and not heavy, The taste of the Pastrami was authentic and spot on. Its what a Pastrami should be. I ordered it hot, w/extra meat, mustard and pickles. I’ve lived here in Clear Lake City since 2012. It’s been difficult finding a delicious Pastrami in the Houston area and the Dixie Deli had it here all the time. Great to see Ret. MG Jimmie “Jay” Wells, Cdr, 75th Trng Cmd and former Washington Redskins Linebacker photo on the wall.

I’ve been on a hunt for what I consider the best muffuletta and so far this one is the clear winner. When I search “best muffuletta near me,” this deli comes up first! I wish I’d taken pictures. The ratio of meat, cheese, and olive spread is perfectly balanced. Not too much of a single ingredient overpowering the sandwich and not oily or salty like some I’ve had with too much olive spread.

My husband and I have been to this unassuming family run hole-in-the-wall several times since discovering it, and today we even had the pleasure of meeting the owner, David who insisted we had to try the chicken and sausage gumbo, even asking the ladies in back to give us a sample, which was so very kind! He had left the restaurant, so unfortunately I didn’t get the opportunity to tell him how delicious it was. Perfect amount of spice and the meat wasn’t dry like others I’ve had. He told us someone in Louisiana makes it for them.

My husband always gets the Ruben sandwich and says it’s absolutely one of the very best he’s ever had and that’s saying a lot because he has eaten them all over. Next time I will try to remember to get pictures, but this place is a legitimate lunch spot with multiple sandwich options, including a lunch special of sandwich, chips and drink for only $8 I think, which is a great deal! Service is fast and friendly and we will return as often as we can.

Update: pics from 10/16/24 visit of the pastrami sandwich with extra meat and muffuletta, both 9” size, as well as the carrot cake made in house. Carrot cake wasn’t my favorite but still decent. I found the cake slightly dry and the cream cheese frosting was lacking that cream cheese zing I’m used to. I wouldn’t get this again but may try one of their other desserts another time.

Parking: Located in a small shopping center, there’s plenty of parking

Wheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp, but maneuvering inside may be challenging when busy just due to it being a smaller place, however I’m certain the staff would gladly assist with accommodating.
