First and LAST……Horrible just awful!! Cabbage hard and dry, yams half cooked straight from the can, dry and disgusting. The rice was gummy with this nasty sort of gravy! 60$ for TRASH!!Do Better; Never Again!!!

I often eat there and every now and customer service dip below average today 11/1/22, it was low. I spent $34 for oxtails...there was no ice, no hotsauce. No concessions where offered. The staff argued to me that those things are complimentary...I left regretting I left a 18% tip. Service is paramount. They must know

I felt like this restaurant had a lot of historical significance. Also, the customer service was great, the place was clean, the food was fresh, and the portion size was ample.-The fried chicken was delicious ?.

If I Could Give A Zero I Would ??‍♀️ Today Is The First Time We Tried This Place And We Will Never Be Going Back. My Mom Went And Ordered 2 Oxtails Plates 1 w Mac & Cheese, Greens & 2 w Beans, Greens, & Mac Cheese. The Food Is Awful The Mac & Cheese Is Super Salty & The Greens Have No Seasoning At All Then On Top Of That The You Only Get 4 Oxtails & You Can Us The Rice For Different Meals ??‍♀️ This Is Sad For 70$ for 2plates

I drove all the way to Sunny Side to try Dori’s Kitchen. Dori is super cool ?. She even tried to give me a discount just so that it wasn’t expensive and it was only like $40 between 2 people. I was like giiirl… I spend money in all these “other” establishments not expecting favor. I better not come up in here acting like I should get a discount cause we look alike. We really gotta normalize not complaining about the prices when dealing with our own people, when it’s actually worth it.This food was bussin’. ? It gave everything it was supposed to give. ? Every bite felt like it was made with love. ? I love places where you get a lot of food for the money and this was definitely one of those places. My cousin swears by their Kool aid. If you like Kool aid, you will love theirs. I will ride to Sunny Side any day to eat here. Especially that rice and meat loaf ?

I stopped by yesterday for the first time and I can easily say this is the best soul food in Houston! My friends and I tried the oxtail, fried chicken and chicken fried steak. They were all exceptional! I had the okra sausage and collard greens for my two sides and I’m telling you this place and the flavor is super fire! Definitely must stop if you have soul food on the mind while in Houston area. Five stars!

I went to Doris Kitchen for lunch and the food was awful. I ordered a pork chop dinner and the pork chop was so tough, you couldn't cut it with a knife and a large Oxtail dinner which was 39.14. The Oxtails was 21.95 and who ever cooked them need to go back to culinary school. They wasn't very tender or seasoned well at all. I called immediately after arriving home to let them know that the quality of food they served was terrible. I spoke with Krystal the manager, she was very rude and unprofessional. She didn't try to offer another type of meat for the pork chop or anything. Her customer service skills is very poor. I asked her to have the owner contact me and she didn't get any of my information. She said we have caller id. The first time I visited Doris Kitchen I met the owners and they were very nice and professional and the food was good over a year ago. You will not be open for business very long allowing someone like Krystal manage your business. She need to take a customer service class. I don't live on this side of town but I definitely will not be returning. I wasn't trying to replace the oxtails because I just accepted the fact that it is what it is but the pork chop was unbearable, if you can't cut it you will definitely not be able to chew or swallow it. Krystal also lied and said 3 customers was there eating pork chops and they were fine which she lied because my male friend came right back up there and it was no one there as it was when we were there. I should of seen the red flag, the place was empty at lunch time @ 1:00pm.

Found this place on Google as I was looking for smothered pork chops.Walked in to an empty lobby, as it was 4:15p on a Sunday. Walked right up to counter where there is a sign on the plate glass, in front of the cash register that says “Please check your food before leaving the counter. Modifications will only be made with 30 min of your order being completed”.I was greeted warmly but quickly informed that they were sold out of most steamer table items. Offered to fry some chicken but as I said I came for pork chops.I was about to leave when the cashier suggested a burger or seafood. I placed an order for 2pcs of fish (to be fried EXTRA hard), 6 shrimp and asked to sub the fries for Mac & Cheese because I don’t like soggy fried food.He joyfully rang up the purchase, I paid and tipped and took a seat nearby to wait. About 7-9 min later, he let me know the order was ready. I thanked him and the other staff members and left.Once I got home and opened the bag, I immediately noticed a problem. There are French fries under the fish. The fish isn’t fried hard and there aren’t 6 shrimp.I was about to get upset but then I remembered the sign and just had to live with it.That’s the reason it’s only 4 out of 5 stars. Though I didn’t check the bag before leaving, I assumed that because I was the ONLY person I the lobby and they were already doing closing procedures, that my simple order wouldn’t cause confusion.I will say, however, the customer service was 5 star, the fish and shrimp were seasoned well and the fillets were a good size for the price. The shrimp were plump and juicy for the size they were. Even though the fries were extremely soggy, found a few that were ok and they were seasoned well, also.I was just disappointed that the order wasn’t done the way I asked for it.Perhaps I’ll try again during the week for lunch.Maybe.

Pork chops was beyond salty. Side dishes where very small. Yet I had enough rice for 3 more meals. Not what expected. My wife's mashed potatoes were salty as well. I truly hope that this restaurant will listen to the remarks and take head....I'm very disappointed at their service...

I don't think I'll be going back there. The food was good but I watched a brother separate and bag up some bacon without gloves on and had to say a special prayer and trust God.

This was a spur of the moment decision and a good one we we enjoyed every bite. The food tasted really down home and good portions. We enjoyed every bite. Not only was the food delish, but also there are pieces of history in the restaurant. While waiting on our meals we enjoyed looking at all the artifacts there. Next time out Sunday visit will be before 1pm because they are busy after church hours. We loved the dinner plates. The next time the HUBBIE will try the burgers because I am sure the buns are butter toasted and delish.
