Wondering why there aren’t more reviews and pics, we went to check it out ourselves and were pleasantly surprised.Went here for lunch during the week, but the place was not very busy and dining area was pretty small. Server was very kind and attentive, and we noticed only 1 lady cook preparing our food to order. Complimentary homemade chips & salsa that were brought out were “a good spicy.” We ordered chilaquiles with pollo, tacos (flour tortillas were handmade,) gordita, and tacos dorados de papa. We also ordered guacamole (which we believe needed a bit of lime & salt- which we added) and some churros! The mini churros were warm and delicious with a cajeta filling. Agua de Jamaica was on point, too.If you’re looking for more authentic homemade food- this is your place! We’ll be back soon.

With no planning this lunch stop was a shot in the dark. Direct hit! The tacos, salads, and service were spot on and I would return here again.
From the outside it looks rough, from the inside looks like they need a roofer. First thing I noticed was everyone inside looked authentic Mexican. Second thing about the same time was the thick wooden chairs looked like a bad idea - but they were not, I have sensitive back side and they were comfortable. Check one. Wife and i eat salsa like water, so we went through a few bowls. The first one was great actually unique and perfect in every way. The others were chilled and not as fresh tasting but still quite good. chips better than average and on the thick side. Wife ordered the chicken and I ordered the Mexican fajita plate. Thats all that seemed to interest me at the time. That said, I have only liked one other of these in my life. I usually detest them but was eating it because my wife was hungry and she said to stop here. It was VERY tasty and I could barely eat every last drop. Wife complimented the meal even hour after. Which was great. I'd go back. The customers that came in seemed to be both old and young couples. I didn't have the chance to inspect their bathrooms. The meals were relatively in line with other places maybe on some items a tad cheaper and they gave a large looked like 32 ounce drinks which were IMO a tad pricy but tasty.
We were looking around to eat something local and found this joint with great food. We really Recommend this place.
After enjoying their delicious breakfast tacos at numerous catered events and receiving a take out menu in the mail, my husband and I had to give them a chance when we had a craving for tacos during lunchtime. We ordered barbacoa and beef fajita soft tacos with flour tortillas for just $2 each. The tortillas were handmade and had a slight crispy/toasted quality to them, which not only made them even tastier but helped to hold in the plentiful meat and fixin's. We have had other $2 flour tacos elsewhere and El Tapatio has other places beat, in terms of flavor, tender/juicy meat, and amount of filling. The menudo was HOT (in temperature) and seasoned well with a jalapeno kick to it. Seriously it was scalding, so be careful everyone, but lukewarm menudo is no bueno so I am not complaining here. The only complaint I have is the 30 minute wait time for the to go order. The restaurant was only half filled. Next time we will either call ahead or eat there.
Wow the salsa and chips were outstanding.I knew my meal would be super. Enjoy a wide choice of Mexican specialties, with reasonable pricing. The restaurant is very clean with a touch of Mexican decorations. Try it soon it's a wonderful neighborhood surprise.
