Escalante's Fine Tex-Mex & Tequila

First, the restaurant is beautiful and the food is quality. But the prices were way up there for Mexican fare and the food itself, while quality, was a mixed bag. Specifically, the camerones de tacos (shrimp tacos) were pretty bland (but that tiny bit of chimichurri crema on the side was spectacular), the chips were cut too thick but the salsa was tasty. The famous white queso was smooth and fresh, but it lacked flavor and it had a strange long green pepper swimming in it -- I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be cut up or was mistakenly added. My black refried beans were unremarkable and lacked that signature, Mexican flavorful punch. My aunt enjoyed her skinny enchiladas entree -- which was plated attractively, but I did not try them. Although I included special info in my reservation, the hostess was unaware of it when I arrived. Our waitress was pleasant and she got our order right but she came over so many times that I felt rushed and then annoyed that our conversation kept getting unnecessarily interrupted. Some folks may like wait staff coming over every few minutes, but I'm not one of them.

Israel E. was very attentive to my needs and made informed me that the food I was going to order was only made the way it said on the menu which to be gave me a chance to change it and get something I would actually then enjoy. I also really appreciate that he would make conversations to lighten up the mood and acted like an actually human being. 5 stars

David is a wonderful sever , was always attentive , explained us the menu in great detail . The enchiladas de birria was very good and I’ll be ordering again !
