The food at this Indian restaurant was good-fresh, hot, and overall I’d rate it around an 7/10. The flavors were enjoyable and the dishes came out quickly.

However, what really stood out was the cleanliness of the place. The tables were dirty, the chairs were turned around, and the floor clearly needed attention. I understand they had a busy morning, but when we walked in, several staff members were just sitting and watching TV during their break. A little more attention to the general upkeep would have made the experience much better.

The ambiance and cleanliness definitely need improvement. Bathrooms definitely needed attention

Flying Idlis is one of the best restaurants in Houston for authentic South Indian cuisine. The sambar, in particular, was incredibly delicious. The owners are a kind and welcoming couple who make you feel right at home. Highly recommend this place!

This place is terrible! We visited for the first time and ordered idli , rava dosa. The food wasn't fresh, and the taste was awful. The dosa was undercooked, resembling wet flour rather than a crispy delicacy. The chutney was also unpalatable. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Perfect South Indian taste.
They just extended the dining area.
Make sure you try everything.

Tried multiple things and everything was good. This was my first time and i will definitely visit again.

Ambience is not that great so i think that can be improved.

The timings may be an issue for some people as the restaurant is open only till afternoon in weekdays and closes at 9 pm on weekends.

I ordered two plates of punugulu and this is how they got delivered. They might have transferred the hot ones directly and the foam box melted making the food poisonous.

This is pure negligence of the management🙏.
Never gonna order from here

The food here is delicious!! usually always go twice before I make a review.
The item that stood out the most for me was the Nelloore Ghee Karam Dosa. That was one of the best dosas I ate in a restaurant. All the chutneys and sambar tasted really good too.
This is hands down one of the best spots for typical Indian tiffins. A place I can see myself visiting often.
Also I noticed that a lot of people talk about the ambiance of the place. I’ve visited places that had great ambiances and horrible food. I will take amazing food over ambiance any day. It’s a personal preference for sure but I’m the type of person that likes a low key environment in a restaurant with delicious food!

Alright, so food is important but the ambience has to be worked on a lot.

Pros: I love the fact that the family has come together too run the restaurant.
Staff is warm and welcoming
Healthy floating idlis are nice but need to be improved in terms of softness

Can be improved:
1. Tea cup size and price can be reduced to suit everyone because not all prefer big cups. Quality is more important than quantity.
2. Service needs to be tracked using a token system or numbering else you will be stuck trying to find a customer.
3. Corn in Sambar is a big Nooooooooo.
4. Please focus on maintaining the place and kindly make it more inviting.

I hope to see this place thriving. I understand it takes time to settle down so I wish them all the very best. Thanks guys.
