Love this place when I need a idli and/or dosa fix. For spicy lovers, a fiery dosa is all you need.

Flying Idlis Serves the best Authentic South Indian food in the town, with specialty in Idlis. The menu has been carefully crafted to cater to various taste preferences. Whether you prefer spicy dishes or ones with milder flavors, you'll find something to suit your palate. But the Self Service which I personally didn't like much. Service is also bit slow. Overall very good experience must recommend this place.

Went there with a couple of my friends. The people there are very courteous and well behaved.. No complaints about that.. However, felt disappointed with the quantity and quality of the food.. Ordered Poori and Aloo Subz. My friend ordered Idlis.. The serving size was very small and it dint taste how it would normally taste.. Hoping they work on it.. Have been a fan of their samosas for sometime.. Hope they improve..

Horrible doesn’t even begin to describe the food here. Went on a recent Sunday morning (was the only South Indian place open) and ordered basic stuff: rava dosa, plain dosa; and puri bhaji. The dosas were mushy and pretty much tasteless as was the sambar. The chutney was good. Puri was super oily. The place looks like a disaster and it’s not what I would call a dive; it’s like a few levels below a dive. With bad food. Plenty of other choices.

Food is great but service has to improve. The atmosphere also needs improvement.

Not extra special but possibly the best place in Houston for South Indian food. We tried most of them including the well known global chain - nothing that rises beyond 3 stars - most of them probably 2. I’d give flying idlis a 5 if they could do a better job with their sambar and chutney (perhaps try for shot grated coconut rather than peanuts). And like many Indian restaurants there is room for improvement on food safety risk management - I recommend that they implement and get certified to a rigorous HACCP assessment

Wish there was an option to give 0. Please do not waste money in this restaurant. The food is soo bad I felt like asking people not to order basis our experience. Wonder how this restaurant still exist.

It used to be really good. But quality and taste has gone down substantially over the years. Poori was below average and sabzi was just boiled potato pieces on a bland curry. Idli was good, but sambhar and chutney lacked any flavour. Dosa was tangy and thick. Chai was good.

This location was once enjoyable. I revisited this place after a few months, and I'm not sure if there's a change in management or something, but everything has deteriorated. The vadas are rock hard, idlies tasted sour, and the rawa dosa was terrible. I miss the good food and service they used to offer.

Flying Idlis offers a unique twist to South Indian cuisine, blending traditional flavors with inventive creations. The Magic Floating Idlis, adorned with onions, coriander, and gunpowder-soaked in rich sambhar, provided a delightful fusion of textures and tastes. The Blazing Fiery Idlis, featuring a bold mix of rice, lentils, butter, onions, and schezwan sauce, showcased a fiery kick that might appeal to spice enthusiasts. The Blazing Fiery Masala Dosa, a crispy crepe layered with schezwan sauce, red chili powder, onions, cilantro, and a secret seasoning, added a zesty dimension to the menu. While the dishes were not bad, they fell short of creating a lasting impression. The Magic Floating Idlis offered a novel experience, but the flavors didn't quite harmonize seamlessly. The Blazing Fiery Idlis and Masala Dosa, though bold in concept, struggled to balance the intensity of spices, slightly overpowering the natural taste of the ingredients.Overall, Flying Idlis offers a decent dining experience with its innovative approach to South Indian classics. However, the execution, particularly in achieving a harmonious flavor balance, leaves room for improvement. A middle-of-the-road rating reflects the restaurant's potential but suggests refinement is needed to truly soar.

Really bad food, dosa was tasteless and quite thick. Chutney didn’t have much flavor, tables were dirty. Even though the place was empty no one bothered cleaning them up much.

We traveled 40mins to here. We ordered ghee idli and magic idli. They served ghee idli without ghee and magic idli without magic and taste. Chutney was really bad and watery. We asked for chutney second time they served water chutney for the second time and then we were too angry and hungry, again we asked for a chutney next they gave little better one (you can see in the attached image). And the worker was saying something related to the indian , after coming indian people to USA they will do some show off something like that she was saying only because we said the table was not clean. SERVICE was really bad. I don’t know how they were maintaining this service here. Prices were too high not at all maintaining the cleanliness and I don’t how they kitchen were looks like.
