When you first walk in, your nose is assaulted by the smell of a fish tank that has never been cleaned in its life. In fact, I don't think anything in this place has ever been cleaned. Food wasn't very good, and the karaoke room was dirty. The best part was the

The waitress was rude, did not do her job and worst of all she increased her tip amount after we had left the restaurant.I took a picture of receipt, and what I tipped. This is unacceptable, it is theft!I will be making a police report, and I will be calling my bank

I recently visited this karaoke spot and was pleasantly surprised by the experience. While the initial impression might suggest it's not the cleanest place, the food truly shines and surprises with each dish. I found the prices to be reasonable for the quality and variety they offer. The service provided by the staff, particularly the attentive and helpful ladies, was excellent. Additionally, the operating hours are convenient for this city. Overall, despite any initial reservations, I had a great time and would recommend it for a fun night out.

It's a place where you can sing karaoke and is more known for that, but their food and appetizers are amazing! I ate here with an expert and learned they serve a lot of dishes you don't find in too many other Japanese places. It was neat to try what would be considered "comfort food."

The place is outdated and tables are close to one another, but what most disappointed me was the food. This was the worst sushi I have ever tried. The spider roll was five small pieces for $9.00. It had no flavor and it wasn't fresh. I ordered the Kushiyaki for $16.95 and again, a few small pieces of meat with old rice and salad. You can get a bigger plate and better food for that price somewhere else. Something positive is that the meat had good flavor. When I decently asked the waitress to please communicate my observation about the plate to the manager, she answered that I could do it myself. She was not rude, but I do not think it is good customer service telling me to do it myself when I literally asked her to communicate it to the manager. It seems like a good place to get drunk and get something in your stomach when everything else is closed.

Though I felt there was an off-putting smell (like a bathroom or sewage smell) in the building, the food was good and the servers were very nice. Prices were reasonable too.

We come here for the sashimi appetizer which is simple but tasty, tuna salmon squid, and the Yakiniku. We have tried the grilled squid, beef tongue, octopus balls-tako yaki , gyudon, yakitori, number one roll and others over various visits. I think the yakiniku is my favorite. The karaoke is fun too. Price is good in my opinion.

I have been going to Genji for over 23 years since his location on Fondren near Richmond. The atmosphere is not kid friendly, it is more geared towards karaoke and drink after work type of environment. One thing that is constant is Mr. Genji himself, he is almost always there everyday. And we have been ordering the one thing only. His beef Yakiniku. This is the best I have ever had, and I have tasted every single yakiniku from USA, Japan and Korea, even Taiwan. His is simply the best. Paired with his delicious sticky Japanese rice, it is the ultimate food for my whole family. My sons are now 20s now and they grew up eating yakiniku from Genji. Picture does not do justice. We have followed him to every single location he moves to and will continue to do so. Shoutout to the Japanese lady with super long hair who has since passed. We miss you ?

I love this place! Been coming since the late 90s when he was on Fondren. Omurice is my favorite and is probably the only place in town that makes it. His spider rolls are also really good and crispy. I've never done the karaoke part as I'm a complete coward with public performances, but there are private rooms as well as the main area.
