Visited GJ Tavern for pre theater dinner. Menu is limited but food is good. High class pub grub. I enjoyed the sushi grade tuna. Nice job preparation. I tried the salmon and it was also good. Drinks were fine. I’d come back!

Great dinner spot! We got the charred broccolini and crispy duck fat potatoes as starters. They were both amazing! I got the pork chop and it was so delicious. My husband got the burger and loved it. Can’t wait to go back again! Everyone there was so nice and provided excellent and fast service.

What a wonderful dinner experience. Tia delivered the best service you can imagine - incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, suggesting cocktails and wines, and apologetic the one time she forgot something. Every dish was delicious, from the mushroom cavatelli to the pork chop to the steak to the burger. The food arrived quickly, but not so much that we felt rushed. Atmosphere was cool and location is smack dab in the middle of all the action - walkable to theaters, bars, etc. I highly recommend!

We had a lovely dinner! What a treat! We needed help picking a wine and the sommelier was very accommodating. He kept it in our price range and it was wonderful with all of our meals. Most of the bottles are in the $100 range, so don’t come short changed! Wonderful variety of wines. Hot towel, superb service, mainly a steak menu. The tuna tartare is a must try for a starter!

Food was great, the steak basically fell apart in my mouth. So tasty. The pork chop is large and should be shared, unless you want to eat for days. Oysters were so fresh and it is refreshing to have an alternative option to gulf coast. It's a small dining area so come on a non busy evening. I love the marquis lights. Didn't love the TV's.

I have traveled around the world and I have to say that this was by far the absolute best restaurant experience of my life. We were greeted and seated immediately. Tia was knowledgeable and courteous but didn’t make us feel like we were at a snooty restaurant. Corbin and I became fast friends before we left. And I can’t say enough about Lindsay. My gracious, you guys know how to pick the best for your business. The chef (Tim?) even came out to thank us for our compliments. If you want a delicious meal while being treated like family, you should definitely try GJ Tavern. In my opinion it’s the star of downtown Houston. I will come back every time I’m in town. Bravo guys.
The only thing better than the brownie is the hospitality. Love this place, the food and the cocktails can’t be beat.
