Go Hyang Jib Korean restaurant is truly a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Chinatown. It has become my go-to spot for delicious Atka mackerel grilled fish and mouthwatering sashimi on rice dishes. One of the highlights of dining here is the variety of flavorful soups, especially the seafood soup, which never fails to impress.Having been a loyal patron for the past 15 years, I can attest to the consistent quality of their food. While there may be occasional long waits during busy periods, the enduring kindness of the lady who has been a fixture there for years makes the experience worthwhile. Her dedication to providing excellent service is truly commendable.Despite the potential for longer wait times, the wait is always worth it as every visit guarantees well-marinated and fresh seafood dishes served in generous portions. Plus, the prices are incredibly reasonable, making it an excellent value for the quality of food offered. If you're seeking an authentic Korean dining experience hidden within Chinatown, I highly recommend Go Hyang Jib Korean restaurant. Just be prepared to exercise a little patience during peak hours, and you'll be rewarded with an unforgettable culinary journey.

This place is not actually a restaurant it's a convenience store with a food counter inside.

Pretty outstanding mom and pop Korean food joint nestled in the middle of a convenience store. Yep, you heard me. Now that I think about it, I've had some of the best food in settings like this from the northern Vietnamese Pho in Prague, to the Thai/Lao food in Brussels. Now here in our awesome H-town. The yukhaejang (beef and veggie soup) was one of the better if had in Houston. Spicy enough, deep flavor in the stock, nice ratio of meet to veggies. If you're new to this dish, think of it like Korean ropa vieja, but soupy. My wife got the selleongtang (oxe bone soup), and you can taste the glucosamine-sticky goodness in the soup. Not the biggest array of banchan, but enough and good quality for a quick and reasonably priced meal. The haemul paejon (seafood pancake) is GINORMOUS and well executed. Comes with the quintessential pancake crack-sauce (my name for it), and you can ask for spicy gojujang on the side.

A korean restaurant in southwest houston located inside a convince store. There was a lot of good things about this place, the food was affordable, and the ladies that attended me were nice (a plus because i speak Spanish too) , and the banchan was really good! The fish cakes were my faveee. I ordered jjajangmyeon and while the portion was huge and a steal for only $12 , it really didn't taste like anything...even with the chili powder which made me upset because i really wanted to like this. Hopefully I can try other dishes soon.

The Korean dishes are no longer as good as used to be. But their new comida hondureña menu seems legit….

It was a really small Korean restaurant hiding in a grocery market pretty interesting the second thing is the only thing I tried is the kimchi stew and I really love it It was really fresh made the service is goodBut I don't understand why they have such low ratingThe neighborhood was not good though

The Korean food here is average at best. The chef is a middle aged Hispanic lady - which is fine in theory - but in reality the flavors are a little off. The atmosphere inside a convenience store is not great either. Listen, if you were in the middle of nowhere and this was your only Korean food option, then it’s perfectly serviceable. But there are tons of better Korean options in Houston. This is not worth your time and effort.

Not authentic at all, not tasty, but the service is pretty good. It doesn't taste like Korean food, but it tastes like old American food, which is not good anyway. The seafood cake is even more unpalatable. There are only mussels with a little bit of squid, scallion and white onion.

It is in a convince store, it’s still a nice atmosphere. Extremely amazing food they really do give you large portions. One of the only places that DOESN'T give small portions for a high price. They also gives side dishes including rice.

It’s in a convenience store but don’t let that deter you. The food is absolutely delicious and the place is clean. I also thought the food was reasonably price, and I love that I can buy house made kimchi to take home with me and keep on hand. The girl at the front is always very friendly.

Food tastes okay. The atmosphere seems to specialize in carry out~. A South American lady seems to be cooking, but she seems like a naive and nice person.

This place like the pictures show, is inside a gas station/convenience store, not the place for atmosphere, but the food was good, especially for the price. We had spicy pork bulgogi and beef bulgogi, each comes with panchan/side dishes, and miso soup! The cucumber panchan was very crunchy and appetizing. My pork bulgogi was very tasty and I finished it all. The beef bulgogi though was a bit gamey and not seasoned well. The one star off was mainly for this. You pay at the counter after you finish eating. You can tell they run their restaurant with heart. If I live in the neighborhood, I will frequent this place often.

I have been visiting this place since 2001 and it's still one of the best plans to eat authentic Korean food.
