Anyone heard of this rule or did they make it up???? They weren’t any signs stating this is the rule. I’ll never go to a place that rip off their customers !!!

The food is okay. SCAM!!! Be careful because they charge 18% gratuity on a party of 4 (2 adults, 2 children). If you don’t look at the receipt or if they don’t provide it for you, when they bring you back the receipt to sign, it will ask for more tip.

She had attitude and kind of rude.Couple bad experiences to share:(1) we had three people, one of the dimsum dish came with 3 pieces, we asked the waitress whether they can be cut in halfs as one of us could not eat the whole piece and her immediate response was "you have three people here so each person just take one piece and no need to cut them".(2) when we were going to pay, we noticed the tip of 18% was already added and not an option, we asked why and her answer was "some of the customers we have here are not good customers and some are low class so we need to charge tips automatically".For these two reasons, I will not go back again even though the food was not bad. This is the first time I saw a restaurant forced customers to pay tips while the service the waitress provided was unprofessional.I did not read some of the reviews until now and noticed some people had similar experience and comments. If we read those reviews beforehand, we would not even bother to go to this restaurant last night.

The food is okie for Dim Sum . However, at the end when I tip $5 by choice since that is how much I want to tip that day. However, the cashier lady waits for me to see how much I put on the tip and then try to correct me to put $7 to match 15 % of the food amount I ate.I told her this is the first time I know a restaurant in Houston that force the customer to put the amount of tip. i thought tip is the appreciation of the customer and it should be by choice.Anyway, I will never come back here with that kind of service like this. I don't mind tipping $2 more or even $5 more but u cant force people to do that, there is no respect here.I should have ask the cashier name ask well. Very unprofessional.

I'm honestly shocked by all the negative reviews here because I've been frequenting Golden Dimsum for years and never had any hiccups! The food is very tasty and never misses. Service can definitely be improved but treat this as your typical Chinese restaurant with swift responses.Golden Dimsum offers a wide array of dimsum selections and my go-to are always har gow, siu mai, steamed chicken feet/pork ribs, shrimp rice cakes, house special fried rice, and egg custard buns. The bbq pork buns and egg tarts are kind of mid so proceed with caution. I absolutely love their house special fried rice! The fragrant and perfectly seasoned rice, combined with a medley of fresh ingredients, creates a savory delight that keeps me coming back for more. Additionally, their egg custard buns boast a delightful balance of savory and sweetness, making them a must-try treat that adds a touch of indulgence to your dim sum feast. Seriously, don't skip desserts!For the price point, I'm totally coming back for more and taking all my family and friends with me!

We went for lunch. The Dim Sum is excellent. They have menus with pictures that are helpful for people who are not familiar with Dum Sum. The food is great. We had two young kids in our party so we ordered chicken fried rice for them. It was well prepared, and the kids enjoyed it. The food is excellent with a wide variety. The wait staff was helpful and courteous.
Food is OK but they are the most dishonest restaurant I know, they add a large tip to your bill (20% or so), and do not tell you, nor do you get an itemized bill, they just run your card and give you the voucher for you to sign, one with a space to add a tip, so you can end up paying a 40% tip. It happened to me almost every time I've been there, at least a dozen times, and even when you ask if the tip is included, they lie and say it's not. If you go, don't be fooled, do not add any additional tip, or if you think restaurants should not scam their customers, then do not eat here, I know I wont be back.

This is first time I eat at this Dimsum place.The waitress is very rude , not really want to serve us. The food we ordered last night bible stripe is nasty is no flavor at all . I think what they did is to boil the bible stripe and just give to us and eat without putting any of seasoning in it.The food we ordered have no flavor and have no meat in. Decided to have lunch with my sister, cousin, and five year old nephew 12/28/23 Thursday . The waitress/hostess was extremely rude and aggressive. She kept rushing us to order when it was not busy. Once we ordered she brought us soup spoons stuck together when I pulled them apart there was old rice holding them together so I ask her for clean ones which she gets with a bothered attitude. We finally get our food and she comes and tells us when you finish go pay at the register and ask for to go box which we usually have the server always give us the check and boxes and bag. I go pay she doesn’t hand me my receipt she tells me my total well for a party of four she charged us gratuity and i didn’t notice because she didn’t give me a receipt so I pay. I asked for the receipt but didn’t notice that she was acting so weird because she had added tip to it and the thing is I work in the service industry so definitely know how to take care of my service people. So needless to say watch out for the attitude then the tip add on ! She got way more than she deserved. Even after over tipping she stared at us until we left. I will definitely be back and tip accordingly after I’ve reviewed my receipt . I guess she was hoping I wouldn’t catch on to the tip scam.

Golden Dim Sum certainly hits a spot for dim sum, though I wish the quality of their dim sum were better. For example, their spare ribs with black bean sauce had great taste but came out too hot, as did the char siu pork buns. The cheung fan (steamed rice noodle rolls), again, tasted good, but did not have quite the ratio of rice noodle to shrimp that I was looking for. Service was average for a dim sum restaurant; ambience is about as expected. Overall, Golden Dim Sum is an average dim sum restaurant with several flaws.
