The food here is underwhelming.
The meat was very basic dry. The barbecue sauce taste like sweet salsa.
The redeeming food items were the chicken breast and the jalapeno bread.
For this price, I suggest brookstreet or pitroom

If you’re craving real Texas BBQ, you’ve got to check out Goode Company Barbecue on Kirby. After trying countless BBQ joints across Texas, I can honestly say Goode Company holds its own with some of the best. It captures the essence of Texas BBQ beautifully, blending mesquite smoke and traditional flavors in a way that feels genuinely Houston.
Walking in, you’re greeted by the aroma of meats smoking in the pit room. Goode Company’s cafeteria-style setup lets you see the options right in front of you, from their famously tender brisket to unique offerings like jalapeño bread. The jalapeño bread adds a bold, spicy twist to your meal, pairing perfectly with their smoky meats. Their pinto beans and jambalaya are just as memorable, each dish reflecting their attention to detail and dedication to flavor.
One thing you cannot miss here is the pecan pie. Goode Company’s pecan pie is legendary—a rich, sweet slice of Texas that serves as the perfect dessert after a hearty BBQ meal. It’s hands down a must-have, making every bite feel like an authentic Texas experience.
The location on Kirby is ideal, with Rice Village nearby and other Goode Company spots like Goode Company Seafood and Goode Company Taqueria close by. If you want to carry the Texas vibe into the evening, head across the street to Armadillo Palace, a classic icehouse that celebrates Texas culture with live music and a laid-back charm.
Goode Company Barbecue is a true Houston institution, capturing the spirit of Texas BBQ with every bite, from its Czech influences to the mesquite flavors that define it. For locals and visitors alike, this is more than just a BBQ spot—it’s a Houston experience. Highly recommended for anyone wanting an unforgettable taste of Texas in the heart of the city!
Vegetarian options: Goode Company Barbecue focuses on traditional Texas BBQ, so vegetarian options are limited. However, their sides like pinto beans, coleslaw, and jalapeño bread are delicious choices for those not eating meat.

Kid-friendliness: With a casual cafeteria setup, Goode Company Barbecue is family-friendly. Kids will love the laid-back atmosphere, and the menu has plenty to please young BBQ fans.

It was my first time trying the famous Texas Brisket and know I can say is the BEST meat I have eaten in all my life. I was just 10 days in Houston but went there to eat 2 times because it was amazing. The baked potato was also amazing. Definitely coming back!

We recently got delivery from Goode Co. and enjoyed it. The brisket was super smokey and delicious. The jalapeno pinto beans, although not spicy, were a highlight of the meal.

It's a very themed restaurant and the atmosphere is nice. The BBQ itself is ok. It's something that I would stop by for if I was in the area and really craving BBQ but certainly not something that I would go out of my way for.

We love Goode Co.!! My husband and I are frequent flyers, and make dining on their patio our weekend ritual. Their portions are great. We especially love their BBQ sauce, Sweet Tea, Brisket and Loaded Baked Potatoes.? We recently got to try their Banana Pudding and it was amazing too! Their staff is always so kind, attentive, and happy to serve us. We love having this gem in our neighborhood!

Fun, casual spot with a nice covered patio and indoor dining, plus a takeaway window. Their turkey/brisket sandwich on the jalapeño Cheddar bread is hard to beat! Green beans are very bacon-y and tasty!

The place is small, you order and serve on the “tray”. Delicious seasoning, very well served. Very delicious pecan and chocolate pies.
We ordered stuffed potatoes and a three-meat combo with rice and potato salad.
The experience with Texan barbecue was very good.
