This place USED to be a Houston "institution". I grew up here, so I took my wife there for our anniversary. The food was AWFUL. It was boring, bland, poorly cooked, and we had to get take-out AFTER our anniversary dinner. I have NEVER been more DISAPPOINTED with a Houston "institution" in my life .SKIP THIS, GO ANYWHERE ELSE TO EAT.
My family had a private event at Grappino di Niño last weekend and the food, service and ambiance were all top notch. Their Director of Special Events, Luke Palermo is an asset to their organization and made the entire planning process very pleasant. We would recommend Luke and the entire team at Grappino di Nino for any special celebration. Thank you Luke!Cheers!
Great food and atmosphere as always
Great food, wonderful atmosphere, and impeccable service - if you like great traditional Italian fare, look no further.
One of if not the best Italian food in Houston. The food is consistently delicious!
Love the food!!! So gooooood! Tetrazzini is my favoriteeeeeeeeeeee. They stopped putting on the menu and need to bring it back ASAP.
The worst Italian food i have probably ever had in my life.. so bad that i had to take 4 tums and a cup of baking soda water just to battle the acid reflux from the experience throughout the night. Let me add that I rarely have these types of issues. The bill was outrageous ..so much so that i felt bad for the host and offered to pay part of the bill. We were in the private room with 10 attendees and 4 of them children. The room rental was $400ish and the total bill was over $2,000. Thats $200 a person. Here is the thing, the only alcohol consumed was a maybe a bottle of white wine and a couple beers. Everyone else had water or tea. Usually alcohol is the driver for any dining bill going up to a cost of $200pp.. The fish was the main course i chose ($38 snapper) which came with Spinach. The fish was of low quality and overcooked. So bad in fact that all the people that chose it took one or 2 bites and left it. A ten year old that was present even commented that the fish was gross. We also had some low grade appetizers where the cold meatballs is what stood out the most. The entree salad was terrible. I chose the Caesar and my wife the chopped, both of us took one bite and left it.( salads were soggy) . My dinning experience ended after the first course and I just some bread once once in a while thought the rest of the event . The white country bread was good the Foccacia i tried but was stale. The service was bad. Water came around so rarely that my wife and I grabbed the waters that were poured for the guests that did not come. Other guests did the same with getting up to get silverware and napkins from other settings because they were never replaced after the appetizers plates were taken away. When the food arrived the waiters lost track of who ordered what for everyone and for every course. The icing on the cake was when the server pouring water finally came around towards the end and topped off my white wine with water and ice. Never mind the wine glass is almost double the size of the water goblet, and the wine had a light green tint to it. One more note , we dined early and were the only ones in the restaurant, so no excuse for the bad service. The atmosphere inside the room is completely outdated reminiscent of a tourist trap in little Italy NY , which is fine… but the staff had 90’s rap music playing while we attend a retirement party and they had the temp inside the room running hot and guests had to ask a couple times to turn the air downGiven the experience, It is very clear that the owners are rarely present on site and the kitchen probably is run by a cook versus a chef.I will never return “obviously”and could have left it at that. However the bill was so outrageous given hardly any alcohol was consumed that remaining silent was something I could not swallow and fuels my ongoing rant. $200 a person is more than what top caterers charge for upscale events. Its more than what I have paid for past experiences at Tony’s, DaMarcos, and BCN. I even rented a private room at Del Friscoes once for 20 people where the party had over 14 bottles of wine (ranging from and everyone had mixed drinks as well to go along with steak, Sea Bass, and Lobster entrees and the bill there was around $3,500. The cost for this below average experience is inexplicable and has remained the topic of conversation days after among the guests. The host felt so bad that she apologized to everyone . She footed most of the bill for the retiree and chose the location. The negative experience completely over shadowed the celebratory event. We are all discussing doing a makeup event for the retiree somewhere else. If anybody from Ninos reads this, they should pick up the phone and apologize to the poor young lady who booked the event.. Reading this review should. make it fairly easy tofigure out which party this was.
Nice place. Prompt and attentive waiters. Great food. This place is awesome. I am told you need to reserve in advance to get a seat. Covid impact has reduced clientele. Quantity was pretty large per meal.
Service was terrible food was terrible !! Was my nephews 16th bday we had 12 people and will never go back !!!
Great service and food. We asked to be seated in the courtyard and enjoyed the atmosphere and service there. We definitely will return. Great menu and all guests found something to their liking. Enjoyed the Monday special, Tuscan seafood soup.

great atmosphere, food and service. Armando is the best!
Food edible, though cold. When reheated food is not that good especially when they book your food in the microwave. Cheap Italian food at not that cheap a price. Would not probably return though my partner loved his warmer dinner. Just not what you would expect from the location that looks quite nice
The food was excellent and the waiters were great and helpful.
Great food with great service. Can’t wait to go back.
