Absolutely horrible. pretty much everything is fried, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Their fried food was way over cooked. Actually thought that my fried oysters were chicken ? nuggets at first. Shrimp ? were chewy at best. Extremely disappointed with food. Will not be returning.
First visit after passing by a number of time. Picked up food to go. Gumbo, red beans & rice and crawfish ettouffee were all tasty. Wished the chicken in the gumbo had been lump/cubed, rather than shredded, but this didn’t affect the taste. All had a nice level of heat (spice) without being overbearing. Bread that came with was bland. Will definitely return and try a few other items from the extensive menu.
The restaurant is on the small size so I regularly get pick up from there. Very friendly staff, great food at a good price. Have yet to try something I didn't like.
I stopped in because I had passed it a number of times and always wanted to try it. The location is small but has an extensive menu of Cajun classics. I ordered the seafood platter: fried catfish, shrimp, stuffed shrimp, and a cup of gumbo. Awesome meal and a ton of food for $13.
I can't say enough about how scrumptious this food is and how incredibly inviting the staff cooking and ringing at the register were to each person who entered their doors! Cannot wait to eat here again!!!
I'm always pleased to locate Louisiana type dining but outside of Louisiana it's sometimes hit and miss. Don't expect high end service here. The food is served in plastic baskets and on paper plates just like you sometimes find at some of the best unknown, unsung, excellent eating options found in Louisiana. You order your food, wait for your name to be called so you can pick it up. No table side service here. I had the gumbo and a blackened shrimp salad. The gumbo was excellent with the roux perfectly prepared. The shrimp was served skewer style on a bed of greens with tomatoes and red cabbage. I definitely recommend it.
The food was delicious! I had the chicken burger and gumbo and my brother had the seafood platter and gumbo. Both were tasty. Very casual place, super nice staff and great food.
I will admit that I've only had Gumbo Jeaux' gumbo and red beans & rice. This is because I can never bring myself to pass up these dishes when I go there! The place is a small. simple almost fast-food like restaurant - but its food is excellent. You order at the counter and wait for it to come out a few minutes later. Then you get to dig into the deliciousness!

My husband and I went here for lunch while visiting Houston and really loved the food! It's hard finding authentic Cajun food here in Texas and this was probably the closet we've gotten to anything we had in Louisiana. I had the fried catfish and beans and rice and my husband had their fried chicken sandwich. Both items were seasoned incredibly well and had a light, flaky coating. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be going back the next time we're in Houston!
What a great little unassuming place. Food is served on foam plates with plasticware. If you can get past that and focus on the food quality, then you won't be disappointed. The spice and flavors are just right and true to Cajun tradition. The servings are reasonable for the price and the cooks are friendly. Counter service only, no frills, but great food.
Simple little place - order at counter. Staff is friendly. Food is excellent! The roux is may be the best I've had. Can't go wrong with their gumbo and etouffee. Family has gotten their fried dishes and loved them. My favorite is the Seared Tuna salad. The tuna is excellent, and the salad was great mixed greens (not cheap iceburg or even romaine). Prices are more than reasonable for the quantity and quality.
Usually come here every few weeks for lunch as the food is really authentic and seasoned well. The daily specials are good, and I usually order the seafood platter where you get prawns, stuffed prawns and catfish. What makes the seafood platter great is the cup of gumbo that comes with it, the flavor was just spot on. Highly recommend coming here for lunch. Wait was not too bad, service was ok, the food is amazing.
I had the crabcake sandwich and fries. It was certainly enough for two meals but I honestly couldn't stop once I bit in. The fries were standard shoestring but cooked with fresh oil so no aftertaste and that right balance of crunchy and tender. The sandwich was thick with lump crab meat in the crabcake which was probably about the size of two burgers that you'd get at any fast food place. It was slathered with a generous helping of relish and I went to the counter to grab one of the hot sauce bottles but after a few more bites I found I didn't need it. Sandwich was seasoned perfectly. Next time I'd probably get the relish on the side or leave it out. I really didn't want anything interrupting my dance with that crab cake. lol Delicious and I understand the long lines at lunchtime.
