I wanted to like this place. However, the lack of AC in the back half of the restaurant in downtown Houston makes for a sweltering dining experience. The food was decent. For instance, the marinades on the meat tasted good. However, the sweetness of the meat with the saltiness of some of the sides mixed with the heat of the restaurant and the smoke everywhere was not a pleasant experience. Items were missing from the AYCE menu, and thankfully, our server told us they were subbing in filet mignon to make up for it. After ordering, no meat was delivered, and we had to ask for an update, to which we were told that wasn't actually happening. After the waiter got the manager, she told us that they were not doing that but would bring us one order of steak to make up for it. However, that order never came. Our waiter also kept taking plates away that still had food on it and gave us a little attitude when we requested to hold on to our food a little longer.
Again, we wanted to like this place, especially for the money we paid. However, we will not be back due to the service and the atmosphere.
This place is one of my favorites, and I always look forward to coming back. The food is always delicious. Our server, Anh, was the best. He was attentive, friendly, and truly went above and beyond. I can’t recommend this place enough – it’s always a great time!
