When this snocone spot first opened, it was amazing. The line would wrap down the street, and it was absolutely worth the wait. The syrup-to-ice ratio was perfect, the flavors were spot on, and the toppings (especially the boba and purées) made it stand out. We loved it so much that we went almost every week for the first two months!
It’s not quite the same as true Hawaiian shave ice (because, well, nothing beats the real thing in Hawaiʻi), but for Houston, it came impressively close.
Unfortunately, the quality hasn’t stayed the same. These days, the snocones are hit or miss; halfway through, there’s barely any syrup left and you’re just crunching plain ice. The boba and purée toppings have also gotten lighter with each visit, and even some of the flavors have changed. My go-to “Tiger” flavor, which used to be amazing, now tastes totally different.
Consistency is key to keeping people coming back, and I really hope they can get back to the level they started with — because when it was good, it was really good.

Happy Go Lucky Hawaiian Shave Ice – Dessert Review
I stopped by thinking this was an ice cream shop, but it turned out to be Hawaiian shave ice — and I’m so glad we gave it a try! I originally went for the kids, but I was pleasantly surprised by how good everything was.
We ordered two Happy Rainbows, which came with strawberry, pineapple, and vanilla syrups, strawberry and pineapple purée, a drizzle of sweetened condensed milk, fresh fruit, rainbow mochi, and a creamy vanilla ice cream base. Every bite was fresh, fruity, and smooth — the perfect balance of sweet and refreshing.
It wasn’t what I expected when I pulled up looking for ice cream, but it definitely hit the spot. Next time I’m craving something cold and sweet, I might just skip the ice cream and come back here instead. 🍓🍍🍧

Hello, this evening we came to your location, like almost every other Friday, as a family to enjoy a sweet treat. My son loves your coco loco, making us regulars. So we ordered a coco loco and the ice cream base at the bottom was so gross. It was stringy like dry gum and not the consistency that regular ice cream is. Usually when we eat it, the ice cream melts with the snow cone flavor and this time it did not. I went and told one of your employees and they showed no importance or interest in what I was saying. All she said was that it was probably the coconut ice cream and that it was probably very frozen. The ice cream along with the snow cone is pretty much slush in the first 5 minutes of eating from how humid the Houston weather is. The “ice cream” was so spongy that we initially thought maybe the mochi had gone all the way down to there and that’s what was preventing us from getting to the ice cream base. Very disappointed with the customer service. I know that’s not what yalls typical ice cream taste like or even look like.

Great addition to the neighborhood! Love that they have a super fine shaved ice with traditional sweetened condensed milk as an add-on. We learned our lesson early on to order your snow cone togo, so you get it in the styrofoam container that keeps it from melting immediately in Texas heat.
