After having visited more than 30 omakase experiences and having dined at some of the world’s top Michelin-starred restaurants, this is the first time I’ve experienced something like this.
I am allergic to shrimp and oysters. In this caliber of dining especially at Michelin-level restaurants guests are never left without a course. Plates are typically replaced with an alternative that the guest can eat. During this experience, three to four courses were simply never served to me. There was no replacement, no alternative offered, and not even an acknowledgment that the dishes were skipped due to my allergies. I was never told, “Because of your allergy, we’re offering you another option.”
I would have had no issue paying extra for a suitable alternative. I have never had this level of disregard at Michelin-starred restaurants or even at non-Michelin establishments until now.
This was not an oversight. It was a failure of service, communication, and hospitality.

Me and my partner dined here for an anniversary and it was absolutely amazing. Not only was the food top tier but the knowledge and the serves and bartenders was so extensive. It is a pretty penny cost wise but definitely worth it!

I am giving 4 out of 5 stars to Hidden Omakase—not because it isn't great, but because we compare omasake experience to a very high standard that remains the peak of the mountain for us: Takahashi in Wimbledon, London.

That said, the experience at Hidden Omakase is awesome. The staff, from chefs to waiters, is amazing, prepared, and professional. The experience is unique due to its interactivity with the staff during the meal. The presentation and details shared about each fish (including showing the fish itself) at each course are very entertaining, complementing the definitively high-quality food and the fantastic flavor combinations on each nigiri.

We also followed the advice from Chef Kalef and ordered a Uni-Toro Handroll... just WOW.

One very small downside note is on the dessert; it was good, but not at the same level as the rest of the experience.

All that said, this is an absolute must-visit if you are in town and you are a sushi lover (a real one).

This wasnt my first Omakase experience so I had others to compare it to prior to Hidden Omakase. I was not impressed at all. Only 3 of the sushi dishes and the desert were elevated and aesthetically pleasing. Everything else was just nigiri on a little pinch of rice (see pics). Basically nigiri pieces I could have ordered at a normal lunch outing. I was more embarrassed that I brought my friend there for her first experience. It was very expensive for the courses we received and we had to bring our own libations, except the small glass of sake they gave us. The doors dont open until exactly the rsvp time and they still wait about 15 mins for late-comers. The playlist that night was awesome. There is, however, plenty of parking and space at the bar so no one is crowding anyone else. I would not recommend this particular experience to anyone I know.

We went to hidden on a Wednesday night which is one of their short service nights (wed/fri). The restaurant is quite intimate with 18 seats. The chefs and wait staff introduce themselves in the beginning. Marcos, the head chef was in attendance and serving us in addition to his two additional chefs, Li and Khayleb. They made it a point to emphasize that they were passionate about explaining what they were doing and it showed for one thing, they would bring out the fish they use to serve us so we could actually see what an amberjack, flounder look like that we were eating. It was a really nice touch that rounded out the experience. The wait staff was excellent. It is BYOB, but they do a great job of service including wiping down our plates between nigiri.

The food itself was excellent. Every single piece was exceptional. Interestingly, we thought that the a la carte menu items we chose tended to be better than the actual prefix menu. That said, my favorites were the chutoro, wagyu, madai, amberjack. Special mention goes to the oyster shooter they gave us in the beginning. I usually like eating oysters raw with a little bit of lemon, but they are garnish actually added to the flavor as opposed to covered it up.

I've been to quite a few of the omakase in Houston and I have to say that hidden is easily the best one we've been to. It is worth the money if you like High-end sushi. We we intend on coming back at least another time in the next few months and if Time and money were no object we'd go every season.

Went here for a special birthday dinner. We’ve been to various omakase experiences in other cities including Tokyo. This one definitely stands out! Really unique flavors and fresh fish. Menu is seasonal to guarantee quality. Ambiance is comfortable and intimate. The staff were really personable making the overall experience really enjoyable. Would definitely come again if the timing was right!

My fiancé and I attended Hidden on a Wednesday night, and to our utter shock, we were the only guests for that seating. What could have been an awkward experience became the greatest meal we’ve ever had. Chef Brandon could not have been better and truly blew us away with his guidance through each course. Every dish was perfectly presented (see image for the most aesthetic splatter you’ve ever seen). We had the kindest, most attentive host, who took our photo and immortalized our special night. We’d like to thank each and every member of the team who gave us the best evening of our lives. My favorite bite ended up being Chef’s soba noodles with black trumpet, but I‘ve never had a harder time choosing.

Definitely not worth the $225 a person, I was brought here for my birthday. I’ve had better experiences at other sushi spots around town. This is definitely over rated and it’s just not the memorable experience you’d think it would be. We were still hungry when we got home, we made some mozzarella sticks lol! Anyways! I guessssss just wasn’t that great at all.

Too much soy sauce with their hand nigiri.

We enjoyed the plates better than the nigiri. The best nigiri was the otoro with the torch rendered fat dripped on it. All of the fishes were good though. Ordered additional hand rolls but still left hungry.

If you’ve ever had a real omakase experience, AVOID this place. This is not the kind of omakase you’d expected, and it is seriously overrated for the price. TBH it feels more like a spot for people who enjoy fancy presentation and believe they have refined taste—but really don’t.

Attended Hidden Omakase with 3 individuals - 2 being client guests of mine. Food, service, ambiance and experience were top notch. I enjoyed it even more than I expected (as did my clients). Not your typical omakase experience - definitely unique and special in and of itself. Highly recommend the experience for a special evening which will not easily be forgotten.

I’ve had plenty of omakase meals and Hidden Omakase was the most unique. This isn’t a traditional lens into omakase but a take that celebrates Houston’s diversity through the chefs’ creative takes on Japanese cuisine. Expect a more interactive and relaxed experience that’s adorned with a great playlist and out-of-the-box interpretations. No wonder this is the only sushi restaurant in Houston that’s on the Michelin guide.
