Service and atmosphere was definitely chill but the food was not it. Got the catfish plate with mac and greens and it was very bland. Would not give this a second try. If you're hungry, this will fill you up but if you're looking for Houston's finest, this is not it.

It is clean and comfortable, staff are great, food has declined. The smothered pork chop was hard and I was unable to finish it. This has been the case several times in regards to the entree. This restaurant is a soul food staple in Houston. It used to be my favorite place. I hope that they can get back providing great food.

The customer service was outstanding!! Everyone was professional, friendly, helpful, and engaging! The customers were friendly, patient, and understanding. My party and I were new and had a difficulty making up our s minds. No one rushed us and in fact even the customers chimed in with their favorite dishes making helpful suggestions. Posting was plentiful, the restaurant while under renovations was accessible, clean, and comfortable.

The food was mamas down home cuisine. My only complaint was too much sugar in the cobbler and no cots in the back for naps. My guess can’t wait to return to Houston. So meats were well cooked and season and nothing was dry. Over family member was vegan and managed to find something to eat.

Food didn't taste as good as it used to when I was in college, but the service is great!

The food was very unacceptable. I had the smothered, pork chops, with, yams, cabbage rice and gravy. The cabbage and rice and gravy was okay. The sweet potatoes, wasn't sweet at all. Tastes like just cinnamon was put in it. They almost taste like either canned potatoes or those potato patties. Definitely, didn't I give fresh cut sweet potatoes. The pork chops, were dry and they looked old.
Like the ends of the meat It was dark, like a black looking. The only thing I finished was the cabbage rice and gravy.

Food was no where near worth it, beans plain Mac and cheese out the box I had burnt meat loaf like how do you do that, my people got the collard greens it was water and greens so no taste and they got the pork ribs it was way too sweet and my meat loaf was the same and burnt but the girl and guy was really nice and cook for sure and the drinks was really sweet but good, wish I could come back but the price was too high I spent 80 for food just to eat a quarter of it and all out us saved the rest to give to our dogs LITERALLY.

OMG what happened with the food? It used to be so delish. Me and a co-worker went today for lunch. I got the smothered chicken with yams and green beans, she got the catfish with mac/cheese and yams. The food seemed old and had an off putting taste to it. We couldn't eat so we threw it out and left. We ended up at Frenchys as we were still hungry. Soooo unfortunate

I’m sorry the was horrible I got a fish plate with some yams tasted like they came straight out the can, and my fish was cold and salty green beans taste like they came straight out. The can cornbread muffin was hard and not only that. I won’t be going back
