Best food i ever had. Best service too.

Just don’t. Ordered smothered pork chops and I got an overly fried pork chop with zero flavor and a side of what tasted like canned gravy. The Mac & cheese had no taste besides cheese and there was still uncooked egg in the middle. The cabbage was decent, but its cabbage. My mom liked her green beans. If the only thing you’re doing right is vegetables something is wrong. I’ve been to same name restaurant in Humble and that food slapped. This is not that at all.

Just spent $31 for an oxtail plate I asked the server to give me an oxtail that was appealing to me and she said I already gave you a big one and continued to put even more big oxtails than I wanted on my plate what sense does that make if I paid $31 and could not get the one I wanted. It would have been okay if she was rude when she responded to me. I have not been here in a while but I see why they have gone down the service is so poor

Food was like warm but good after I microwaved it. Smothered pork chops lack flavor. Service was superb! Portion size is great.

Hot and fresh....Food did not agree with my stomach

Second time ordering here in 9 years. First time it was awful. Second time was today and equally awful. Food is just canned with chicken broth. You can't tell me a real cook is cooking and calling it Soul food.

I ordered smothered pork chops, black eyed peas, mashed potatoes, and greens. The portions were generous. However, I would prefer more seasonings in the food. The chops were not tender at all and the smothered pork chops and greens were the producers of too much unflavored juice in the container. The greens should have been in a container alone. I don’t like loose, flavorless gravy juice in place of thick 40 weight gravy. I will return but definitely not for the pork chops.

Food is simply not good! I came here from Detroit visiting and was looking forward to trying some soul food in Houston. The fried chicken was bland and had hard burnt tasting breading. The Mac and cheese noodles were limp and cooked. The green beans looked like they came straight out of a can. The mashed potatoes trashed like it had zero salt,butter, garlic, chives NOTHING in it. $26 wasted. SMDH

My nephew and I went today for lunch and really enjoyed it. Big portions, we both got the catfish and really enjoyed it, got the pork chops to go for my hubby and I know he will eat on it for 2 days. Staff and service was great, plenty of parking and enough room inside to service a large group. if you are in the mood for Soul Food this is the place to go.

The food is really getting worse and worse. I spent almost $100 two days ago at this place. Didn't mind the money but the food was NOT worth it. 👎👎👎👎👎 I wish I didn't have to give them not one star! I was so angry when I got home to eat. Don't spend money here

Don't believe the hype this location on Blogdett is beyond disappointing. Don't waste your time or money. Watery soggy crust peach cobbler. Cabbage over cooked no season on Turkey wings.Thecmac n cheese watery as well. Not at all oven baked as advertised Maybe the wrong cook was on duty today. Then to top off further bad service. They don't answer the phone or answer and never come back. Perhaps better food and service is given at the Sugarland location. The hood location ain't it at all!!!

I was visiting from Austin TX. I crave good soul food. I ordered the smothered pork chops and chicken. It was good. I think Id like the coating on the chicken to be crunchy instead of mushy. I ordered more for family as well the meatloaf was hard and salty. I spent close to a bill and I have a few regrets. Thanks Carmyn for excellent service

Ok so listen the staff was nice, the atmosphere was ok… the food absolutely horrible! I spent way too much money for the food to be as horrible as it was! I do NOT recommend any food … maybe the water and my friend likes the Kook-
