Nice restaurant and very nice staff but the food was absolutely awful. Extremely bland and no flavor at all. Definitely in need of a new head chef because the current one has no taste buds.

Their food and service is always consistently good. I had the seared tuna salad this time with extra greens and it was delicious! Oh yes, and the spinach dip is a must! Really enjoyed it.

Heartbroken by the Decline of Hospitality at Hillstone.
I recently visited Hillstone (formerly Houston’s) with my family for a special occasion—my sister’s two daughters’ baptism celebration. My mom and her husband, who now live in San Antonio, were excited to return to a place they fondly remembered for its bar seating and lemon drops. We were joined by my uncle, his son, my cousin, and my father. my sister unexpectedly turned up later with her husband, and the two kids that were just baptized and What was meant to be a joyful reunion quickly turned into a deeply upsetting experience.
We seated ourselves at the bar, unaware of the policy prohibiting children from sitting there. After we had already settled in, staff abruptly informed us of the rule and asked my sister, her husband, and their two daughters to leave the area. They were told that seating in the main dining area would be over an hour wait, so they left the restaurant entirely. This lack of flexibility and empathy fractured our group and cast a shadow over the evening.
Later, while showing my uncle some old acting videos I made at 20, I was told I was disturbing nearby guests. A card was dropped off, followed by a verbal warning—yet when I asked the guests next to me, they confirmed they hadn’t complained. This felt like another unjustified reprimand.
We spent over $600–$700 that evening, and when I requested to speak with the general manager, Schauna Porter arrived accompanied by security—as if I posed a threat. I hold an MBA from Rice, graduated from USC, and am a Senior Property Manager overseeing a major city center. I understand rules and engagement, but above all, I value hospitality and respect.
This experience left me feeling criminalized and deeply disrespected. I will never return to Hillstone or any affiliated restaurant. What was once a cherished establishment has lost its warmth and grace. I am heartbroken.
I mean, honestly I feel like I was treated like a common criminal and I am just absolutely flabbergasted. I am in the hospitality and report Business and wow, if I treated any of our customers and guests as I was treated —my boss would have my head. I'm so embarrassed that we were treated like this in front of my mother and we will never ever come back and I am Deeply heartbroken.

Rotisserie chicken was good. The bread appetizer was elevated cheesy bread so very much enjoyed that. Not sure I would go back but definitely good enough if I was invited for dinner.

Hillstone has officially earned the title of most unwelcoming restaurant in town. They refuse to seat any party of 5 or more — yes, even if that “large” group is just 4 adults and 2 small children.

When we politely asked if they could make an exception, the manager didn’t just say no — he delivered his answer with an obnoxious smirk and the attitude of someone who couldn’t care less about customers. His words? Essentially: “I don’t care if you have a child — you’re welcome to leave the child at home and come to Hillstone for lunch.”

Let that sink in — a manager at a supposedly “nice” restaurant suggesting you abandon your child so you can eat their overpriced food. The arrogance, the rudeness, the complete lack of basic hospitality is mind-blowing.

Policies are one thing. Treating customers like they’re an inconvenience is another. Hillstone isn’t just anti-family, they’re anti-decency. Spend your money where people actually want you there.

Brittany was the best server we’ve ever had. Been coming to Hillstone and Houston’s my whole life, and to this location for the last year. The service and hospitality were top of the charts, truly appreciate being taken care of the way we were tonight by Brittany, and the rest of the Hillstone staff.

This is my go-to restaurant in Houston for a memorable meal---every time! My friend Dianah and I went for dinner a few weeks ago on a Friday and General Manager Schauna Porter stopped by our table with a complimentary appetizer plate of spinach dip! When we told her we were celebrating a special occasion, she returned later with two glasses of Prosecco! Our dinner was delicious and then...to top everything off...Schauna delivered an ice cream sundae with best wishes for Dianah. The food and dining experience are always above and beyond. I. Love. Hillstone!

I attended a work lunch today at Hillstone. As we were being seated, our group of six was told that the restaurant policy is no more than five at a booth or table. Six people clearly fit in the corner booths. So, one of the attendees of our lunch left to return to the office. Hillstone doesn't serve lemonade, so making an Arnold Palmer is not an option. Also, adding salmon to the Caesar salad is also something they don't do. I know a lot of people like this restaurant. This was my last visit. There are many other good lunch options in this great city.
