I'm here for the second time two days in a row came for breakfast the first time , food and service was great chilaquiles was delicious this next time not tonight 1/11/19 at 6pm the food was bad tortillas tasted like cardboard and enchiladas we're not so great, the server made her unavailable by hanging in the back leaving me with crappy tortillas. Oh well , breakfeast is great just avoid your dinner here. The waitress has forgot my ticket and I'm just sitting here watching her eat and talk on the cell phone at the same time on the food window. Guess it's gonna be an all nighter here.

this place doesn't deserve all the stars it has. i went there the other day, the place was hot and smelled bad like there's no ac on or something, i ordered a barbacoa taco, it tasted bad and smelled bad too, i didn't eat it it was ruined! then i ordered chilaquiles and found a hair! and then my egg was not cooked right disgusting , i didn't eat anything! i'm never going back to that nasty place

The food was average and bland, without any significant flavor or preparation. We tried the fajitas, steak burrito, and chicken enchiladas, none of which were particularly memorable. The dining room fans are so filthy, I would throw them away and buy new instead of putting effort into cleaning them. Friendly staff, but seemed like there was a lack of motivation in all departments.

The place definitely doesn't merit the 4 stars that Yelp had from reviewers. :( walked out disappointed. Food was ok but the price was too high for a hole in the wall like that. Between two ppl, it was $24 w/out tip. Two lunch plates, a can of diet coke and a large horchata drink. Each plate was $9-13 dollars. The place was also a bit dirty and run down.

During my stay in Houston, my top priority was to find an authentic taqueria. I did a little searching on Yelp and came across this one. I decided to give it a try and off my friend and I went! Great service, excellent food, and even better prices! We started off with homemade chips, salsa, and a spicy green sauce that I don't know the name of. We both ordered 2 chicken tortas that came out within 6 minutes. MMMM MMMM! But no, we did not stop there. Next it was taco time. We ordered a medley of tacos: fish taco, barbacoa taco, and taco al carbon. We had a fiesta in our bocas. And what did all this cost us you ask? $20 which includes a $5 tip, which was well deserved. Fast friendly service +++ Highly rated and suggested.

I have eaten here at least 100 times in the past 5 years. The waitstaff is bilingual and very friendly so a great place to practice your Spanish! They always humor me! The daily specials are always good. The burritos are just ridiculously huge. The chips are great. My favorite is the seafood soup followed by the tacos de lengua. There is nothing fancy here just great food at very low prices!

Surely they cleaned the kitchen by now*. It's only been a couple months since health inspection violation. * July 22, 2009 cleanliness violation (reported to Health Dept by a customer) Summary: The food I had was very good tasting, and a decent value. If you like a peaceful lunch, and don't need fancy decor, this is a good choice. I will be back regularly. This is a typical strip-mall Mexican Taqueria in decor. Inside, it looks kind of old, but it's been enlivened with paint and some wall-hanging decor (not much), including a memorial picture of Selena. It has the usual cheap furniture, with 8 hard booths and 10 tables. It's lunch time, and there are 8 tables/booths with customers. One is a white construction foreman or something, talking in Spanish to one person after another for the first ten minutes. Some other customers get food to-go. A congenial family (father, mother & daughter) appear to be running the joint. The waitress (daughter?) speaks perfect English (yes, and Spanish). Service was great, as expected with a small crowd. Atmosphere was peacefully quiet (no loud noise, yippee!). A jukebox of CD music was available. After awhile, I wanted some music, so I offered to pay for a jukebox song, but the momma said no, and she picked one for free. Nice, and not distractingly loud. Chips (real with bubbles) y salsa were great! The red is traditional, but more fresh-chopped looking than the usual salsas you get elsewhere. Minor note: Green (medium-hot) was delicious and seems to be made of ancho type of pepper. Either there was a couple of hairs in the green salsa, or it contained a stringy ingredient (I am an optimist, so I believe 'ingredient'). After all, there were too many of them to be hairs, right? And it would have to be a blonde. Unlikely. See what I mean? It must have been the stringy part of an ancho pepper. Menu: Either they recognize The Plate Whisperer from Yelp (yeah, right), or they really were out of to-go paper menus. But, if I recall, there are a number of seafood (mainly shrimp) options to chicken and beef for the usual dishes. I order a la carte, a taco al carbon (beef), and a chicken flauta. The taco al carbon had thin inch-by-inch squares of beef (about three fingers worth), topped with fresh pico de gallo made right. With the taco, comes baracho beans, which was good, but not among the best. This was a very good taco. The flauta was very hot and tasty, too. The guacamole was freshly-made on the premises, but only a very small scoop for the single flauta. Side of lettuce is plentiful enough.
