Loved my plate shaking beaf and fish and chips. The Asian glazed salmon was not bad. Be back to try other plates.

I cannot speak for authenticity at all, however, having been to my fair share (as well as a couple of other's fair share) of Vietnamese places. I can easily say that this is my favourite! The owners are amazing people who know how to make food that pleases the masses. My go-to is the spicy (you have to specify that's how you want it) pork fried rice with an egg roll or the lemongrass chicken vermicelli bowl. The spicy is probably a bit on the hot side if you don't prefer spicy foods, but if that's your jam then it has some beautiful heat, and the flavour adds a complexity to the already amazing dish that sends it to the next level. All of the protein is phenomenal. All of the dishes are so tasty and portioned well. They don't serve pho year round, but when they do, favour yourself and get it! The rotating craft beer list gives options to try something a bit more unusual or just good convention craft. I have been going to both locations for years and always find myself driving the extra mile (living in the furthest outskirts of Houston) just to get my Hughie's fix. Great work to you and all who are involved. Keep up this amazing Houston institution!

The shaking beef is literally the best in town. That coupled with the fried rice and Kale salad make for an incredible meal. And yes - you have to get the Kale salad. It's literally one of the best salads I've ever had.
Awesome beer selection too that's always rotating.

5 stars for Hughie’s! I ordered online to pickup a dinner order for my family after a LONG week. My husband went to pick up our food and we realized that I ordered at the other location. Hughies on N. Main cancelled our order at the other location and cooked our order so that my husband didn’t have to drive to the other location. Thanks again for great food and great service!!

Not our first time here, but it was even better than I remembered! Started with calamari, basil wings and grilled pork spring rolls. Finished with the shaking beef plate and my little dude had the crispy dumplings. I have nothing negative to say. The food, atmosphere and service was great. It's a bit out of our way but definitely worth the trip.

The food was amazing! For it to be fully kid-friendly I think they’d need to add a park so the adults can spend time together and still keep an eye on their kids having fun nearby. Also, they don’t have Blue Moon or any other cocktails when I went so the adult beverage menu is not so varied. That said, I did have a good time. The vermicelli noodle bowl with pork and fried egg was scrumptious. Definitely will go back again.

This isn't your typical Vietnamese restaurant because they serve a little bit of everything (chicken fried steak, burgers, etc) and they don't have Pho.
The food is really good but, to be honest, the young lady who waited on our table was a "just okay" waitress. P.S. ask for the chili oil if you like heat but use it sparingly. A little goes a long way

Came here for Houston Restaurant Week (HRW) dinner and was massively disappointed
Food: I tried the scallops appetizer, lobster garlic noodles main, and tiramisu dinner for $39. Both the scallops and lobster were way overcooked and tasted frozen. The scallops were tiny, rough as rubber, over-seasoned being doused with fish sauce, scallions, and peppers so you couldn’t taste the scallop itself. The lobster didn’t taste fresh either. The tiramisu was OK. I’ve heard good reviews about their regular menu but would absolutely not recommend their HRW menu.
Atmosphere: as other reviews have noted, Hughie’s feels like a sports bar with lively atmosphere, bar with TVs playing sports behind and seating throughout.
Value: while scallops and lobster sounds like a steal for $39 - it feels like Hughie’s sourced the cheapest, frozen ingredients. I’d much rather they stuck with fresh ‘regular’ ingredients.
