This is not really the place if you're seeking authentic pit smoke BBQ. The meat tastes more like oven baked.
However, other items offered like chicken fried steak, ox tails and rice, cornbread, hamburgers, fries, baked potato, desserts are really good. This place is better for soul food. Portions are generous and they have a welcoming staff that's always friendly

I ordered the chicken fried steak after returning to Houston after being gone for 6 years expecting all to be as it once was and I was disappointed that what I was served was what I refer to as a “fake steak.” Not a tenderized beef cutlet battered and fried on the premises. As a former cafe owner I know that areal chicken fried steak can be labor intensive and messy, but …..

Bake potato with turkey and the potatoe skin at the bottom was burned usually it’s not and also ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and it came out super dry … in the past everything was great.. check your orders before you leave.. I hope Hungry Farmers is loosing their touch!!
