Took my granddaughter there for tea. It was awful. Food not good. Very dissatisfied. A waste of my $$$$.
My friend wanted to go here for afternoon tea for her birthday. I thought it sounded like fun but wanted to order from the regular menu and order my own pot of tea. I was told by our waitress that I had to pay $15 if I wanted to drink tea because, and I quote, "We don't trust you to not drink out of the other teapots." She actually told me that a few times. I've never actually been told by a waitress that I'm not to be trusted, especially since they don't even know me! They have a right to set their own policies but maybe they could word it a little differently? It's probably not a good idea to tell a customer that they are not to be trusted. To their credit, after talking to another waitress they agreed that I could order my own pot but were only making an exception this one time. I was born and grew up in England and have had afternoon tea throughout my life. This was my first experience with going out for afternoon tea in America, disappointing.
The food was freshly made and hot. The person who took my order over the phone was polite and sweet; I really do see myself coming back here. 😃
friendly people good food large portions
I love my fried ribs was so good !!
Great food enjoyed every bite.
This is a lovely tea room with outstanding teas and a delicious menu. Kim and her staff are wonderful. It's a great place to treat yourself to a little pampering.
Celebrated birthdays. They are very conscientious about food allergies and conditions as they asked me when I made reservations. The owner, Kimberly, is very sweet and makes sure you have a good time. I would recommend this for either lunch or afternoon tea.
A friend and I went to McHugh for a traditional afternoon tea. On the plus side, their tea selection is outstanding and the scones were fresh and tasty although on the small side. We had called ahead to assure that the sandwiches would all be vegetarian and they were. The pimento cheese and the cucumber sandwiches were delicious. I only tried 1 dessert, the lemon bar, and it was tart and sweet at the same time. On the negative side, they only served a tiny amount of the clotted cream, lemon curd and jam. We didn’t ask for more, so we don’t know if we would have been charged extra if we had. The service was spotty. A couple of times, we tried to get the waitstaff to bring us more tea, but had a hard time catching anyone’s eye. For a few dollars more, you can go for tea at the St Regis where the service is exemplary. I will return because it’s in my neighborhood and it’s a wonderful way to relax over some excellent tea.
Although the waitress seemed a bit skeptical at first, we came in with two 2 yr olds, a 5 yr old, and an 8 yr old, the service was very good. They have a great tea selection. The food is also very good.
