Recently held our holiday party at Irma’s Original. The food, the drinks were absolutely amazing, but it’s really the owners and the staff that make it a great overall party and dining experience. Highly recommend!

My mom and I stopped in for lunch after a long day at MDAnderson and we were very pleased! Everyone was very nice, helpful and a family vibe! They didn’t have menus but they tell you the price before you order. The food was beyond amazing! I had the beef tacos with rice and my mom had the tamales with rice and beans. It is authentic Mexican food! Definitely give this place a try!

Irma’s is hands-down one of my new favorite spots in downtown Houston. The food is incredible every single time — fresh, flavorful, and full of that authentic comfort you can’t fake. The atmosphere is warm and inviting.

The staff really pushes it over the top. Everyone is so friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. It feels like they truly care about your experience from start to finish.

If you haven’t been yet, you’re missing out. Definitely a must-try!

Exceptional food matched only by the hospitality of this family run business. Went there with a friend while in town for the NAR Convention. From the chips and homemade salsa to the tamales, enchiladas, and taco- Everything we were served was AH-MAZING. And the big bonus, we got to meet the namesake, the family matriarch, Irma. Definitely recommend!!

I saw good reviews on this place on Facebook and just had to try it. The location is good. The people were very friendly, except for the lady who was barking at the staff while sitting at the table closest to the front door and unfortunately not far from us. But, she is not the reason for the low rating. They don't have menus here. Who does that? You pretty much order blindly. You tell the waiter what you want and then they make it. We tried a tamale each. These were good. I asked for scrambled eggs and barbacoa. No barbacoa. I then asked for eggs and fajitas. I was brought a flooded plate. Flooded with refried beans, which I did not ask for, and mostly a tomato & onion juicy mixture. There were very few fajitas and soggy eggs. I told the waiter that I did not like what was brought to me. (I promise I did try to eat it.) He asked me if I would like to try something else. I thought I'd give them another chance. I told him the tamale I ate was good. He brought me another flooded plate. I was expecting the same tamales we had just sampled. This was covered like an enchilada. The surprises kept coming. The bill came. $80! Remember, no menus so no idea of prices. But, $80!? We were charged for EVERYTHING that was brought to our table whether we ordered it or not. The one tamale each that we were brought to sample and the horrible first plate I was brought included. We did not argue or complain. Just paid the bill and left. We will never go back there again.

Not the Irma’s I remember. Plate, pretty small one, of 3 enchiladas was $25, big spoonful of guacamole was $12 - definitely overpriced and nothing outstanding. Fancy lemonade was $5. Too bad Irma is just riding on past reputation - disappointing.

The food is good but Way way to expensive....no prices on the menu.... there are better more affordable Mexican restaurants all over Houston.... I felt like I got taking advantage of.... never again....no photos to share... don't want to give this establishment any kudo's

Irma’s Original is the kind of spot that makes you feel like you walked into someone’s home kitchen; warm, welcoming, and full of flavor. The food is fresh and packed with authentic taste, portions are generous without being over the top, and you can tell there’s love in every bite. Service is quick, friendly, and they make you feel like a regular even if it’s your first time. Prices are fair for the quality, and it’s the kind of place you walk away already planning your next visit. Highly recommend if you want a true local gem instead of a cookie cutter chain.
