We went for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago and really enjoyed the brisket, sausage, and potato salad we tried. However it feels like we've tried better bbq elsewhere. It didn't feel like it was a top 5 bbq location for us but ultimately we were glad to try it! We were thinking it'd be extra packed but we had no trouble with parking or being seated right away. The staff was also friendly. We noticed the place is very dark inside though which we didn't expect. Overall we probably won't return but we're not mad we tried it!

Food was very good, especially the pork belly and fried chicken. Comfort food in a contemporary and somewhat trendy environment. They could use some service and floor management help though. Oh, and Warren Moon, former NFL great, and his family dined at the table next to us which was a pleasant surprise.

Popped in for a bite, best thing on the menu for appetizer...The Pork Belly. The chicken fried steak looked huge, and the waiters were very friendly and informative. Lots of business people out for lunch. Definitely would come back...I didn't understand why people would stand outside Truth Barbeque when you have a Michelin Rated place like this here..loved it!
We came back a second time since I wrote this review. My son had the beef rib....Best damn thing ever! The chicken fried chicken amazing, and I had oysters with a Ceasars salad..drinks and again the dessert...our new favorite place. I have told many of my clients to try the place out and they have great feedback.

Devon provided exceptional customer service during our visit. He was incredibly attentive, organized, and patient while taking care of our bridal shower group of 16 ladies. Everyone felt welcomed and well looked after, and nothing was too much trouble. His professionalism and positive attitude truly made our experience memorable. Thank you, Devon, for going above and beyond — highly recommend!

Chose to give my business to Killens, the staff is so disrespectful, I sent an email complaint to Mr. Killen himself, he did not seem to care. I choose to give my business to companies that, have standards, for service.

Came here on Christmas Eve because I’m in town visiting family and friends and got the craving for some good BBQ. Most of the spots I looked up were closed but this spot just so happened to be open as I was passing by, ready to give up on my search. I must say I was thoroughly pleased with my experience. My waiter (I believe his name was Andres or something close, I honestly forget) was great! He was also doubling as the bartender. As it was Christmas Eve, I could tell they weren’t really running at the fullest capacity (I used to work in restaurants so I can tell the little differences), and that’s expected, but I couldn’t really tell any less service-wise. Everyone was super nice and helpful!
Cocktails were great, even the mocktail my girlfriend had was awesome. We had the brisket queso as an appetizer and it was AMAZING. We shared a BBQ plate for our entree with brisket, pork belly, and pork rib, and truffle mac and cheese and baked beans on the side. We decided to get an extra jalapeño cheddar sausage because it sounded too good to pass up. Now I have to say, the brisket, while tender, was little dry, and the pork belly was a smidgeon tougher than I’d like. Andres(?) mentioned that the food may have sat under the heating lamp a little longer than expected as they hadn’t called it to be ran quickly enough, so I just chop it up to that and that’s the only reason I give it 4 stars on the food side. That said, everything, and I mean everything, was delicious. That jalapeño sausage is genuinely the best sausage I’ve ever had in my life. Truffle mac was banging, and I’m not even a huge truffle fan like some are. Would absolutely order it all again if given the chance. And we got some carrot cake to go and that was great as well.
I warmed up the leftovers (brisket, pork belly, sausage, beans, and mac) this morning as a quick breakfast and MAN, it tasted even better as leftovers. I don’t know how that’s even possible but it was lovely truly. Would definitely recommend anyone to come try this place out for sure!

I dined at Killen's in the Heights tonight after not visiting for a few months, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing compared to past visits.
The menu felt more limited overall, with many dishes that previously included a side now offered à la carte. My go-to chicken fried chicken arrived noticeably smaller—easily half the portion size I remembered—yet still served with mashed potatoes and cream gravy.
I also asked for the bourbon menu as I always do, but they no longer have a dedicated one. This left me ordering bourbon without knowing the selections or prices upfront, which felt frustrating and less transparent.
While the food quality was still solid, these changes made the value feel diminished. Hoping this is just a temporary adjustment or we may no longer be coming back.

We are completely forgotten. One party after us was already taken orders but we have not seen by servers. We had to leave. Server was rude.

I travel and I eat. Usually in Texas, BBQ is what I try to get to elevate my experience but decided to change it up and try some well known Southern Comfort Food. I read the reviews and they did not disappoint. I arrived about an hour till close and was seated quickly and the services was extremely friendly. I decided on getting the 24 hour Buttermilk Chicken and it blew my expectations away! The meat was more moist than any I have ever had; the breading was light, crisp, and well seasoned. The sides: the mashed potatoes with country grave were perfection, the okra was just right, but the collard greens were out of this world and the best I have ever had. They definitely lived up to the Michelin recommendation and definitely deserve a star.

Michelin Star???
We got two Cheddar and Jalapeno sausages , brisket with baked beans and Potato Salad. We also got a dessert: Banana Pudding. That all came out to 35.00 (one plate).
Let me start by saying I am from Memphis and I heard so much about Texas BBQ and I consistently heard this is the best Houston has to offer. So I came in with high expectations. The food came out in less than 10 minutes. First, the sausage is the best thing on the plate, the first bite was flavorful and juicy BUT, by the halfway point it tasted like a giant Slim Jim. The potato salad, is not GREAT, the ingredients are chopped so finely, even the potato chunks are small, if you looking for old fashioned taste, this is a NO. The Brisket was NOT very Juicy, even though they ASKED us if we wanted Juicy. The Baked Beans had an intense tomato flavor, almost like spaghetti rather than the classic sweet and smokey we all love. Lastly, the Banana Pudding, its not great, not terrible, but it is mostly whipped cream and the cookies were still crispy which is a NONO. All in All, I would say this is just a place to go, if you wanna feel fancy and still have a chance at enjoying your food somewhat. BUT if you want BBQ that is truly satisfying for the price? I say Avoid it.
