The quality of the rice is poor. It's sushi rice, but it's sticky and has an unpleasant texture. Also, the size of the sushi is very small for the price. For that price, the sashimi should be much larger, thicker, and have longer tails. A very disappointing restaurant.

Intimate & definitely a hidden gem of Houston. Our server Mia was kind, attentive and provided a lot of great recommendations, each and every one hitttt. The food itself was phenomenal!! Kokoro sits inside Bravery Hall alongside several other concepts, and while the food absolutely delivers, the setting is something to note. This is not the spot if you’re expecting a traditional, upscale sushi-restaurant ambiance there are no private tables. It’s more of a bar-style sushi counter with limited seating, and the prices lean on the higher end for the portion.
I ordered the Chef Nigiri 6, and every piece had its own personality… also had Kinoko– Surprisingly delicious. You can hardly tell it’s a mushroom because the texture is so meaty and the flavor is rich. Butterfish (Managatsu) Silky smooth with a subtle hint of wasabi that balances the bite perfectly. Kanpachi Sambi Crudo Bright, clean, and refreshing with a vinegary, ponzu-like sauce that ties everything together.
A note for anyone with allergies: If you’re allergic to red snapper or similar fish, be aware there may be cross-contamination. An allergic reaction occurred during the visit even after informing the sushi chef, so proceed with caution if you have strict dietary restrictions or fish allergies.
Overall, Kokoro is a great option if you want high-quality nigiri in a casual food hall setting, just make sure the environment and allergy considerations match what you’re looking for.
