Very disappointing. On the positive side, we made a reservation and were seated promptly once arrived, which saved this from being a one-dot review. Other than that, the service was very slow. We were waiting so long for our salad course that, having been served nothing but water, at the beginning, for over a half hour, we considered getting up and walking out. We ordered the mole enchiladas and short rib tacos and when they were served, they were mediocre at best. Also, the noise level within this restaurant was unbearable—there was a party of around 20 people right near us, and we were relieved to finally pay our bill and leave this place.

Last trip to Maui about 3-4 years ago this was an Italian Resturant with pizza. Now it’s a Mexican Resturant with pizza. I’m not sure it knows what it wants to be. I ordered a margarita. Large glass of Margarita mix, could not taste the tequila or triple sec. It was so bad, I didn’t finish it. Dining partner had a beer so hard to complain about that. We started with an app of taquitos. There where good but not rolled in standard Mexican style. We also asked for all ground beef instead of 1/2 beef, 1/2 potato. . I don’t mind paying an up charge, I do expect the wait staff to inform me ahead of time. They did take the extra charge off the bill, but having to bring it up in the first place was annoying. We shared the house salad, but the 1/2 order. Waiter told us it was very small and tried to convince us to order the full. When the 1/2 came, we were very pleased with the size. Our original thought was to share the whole fried fish, but the waiter told us it was unavailable because they were unable to get whole red snapper (?). I wanted to suggested they go down to Safeway or Foodland and buy some whole fish - or take the item off the menu. We settled on sharing the Mole Enchiladas. The mole itself was heavy on the cloves, something I enjoy but my dining pattern does not, so it was not a very balanced mole. The chicken in the enchiladas was so dry that we only ate two out of the three. Overall we probably will not return because of the poor quality of the enchiladas and the drink. Perhaps there are other things on the menu that are good but for the price there are to many other places to eat for about the same price that are better.

Great pizza and HH. Margarita was awesome. Definitely coming back. No wait and the guacamole was also nice with cucumbers. Not a cucumber fan, but made a great dish.

Excellent service, food and margaritas! The guys loved the Guinness on tap! Absolutely loved the generous portion of chicken enchiladas. The spicy green sauce topped them off perfectly! Homemade retried black beans and excellent rice. We will be back again and again!

Very pleasant surprise to find this gem. So creative a menu with some great Mexican pizza flavors including a carnitas and cilantro topped pie, carne asada, chorizo and more. Also the best short rib dish yet and authentic green pozole soup. I highly recommend.

Found this little gem at happy hour while waiting for Monkeypod to be seated. Great appetizer's, wonderful atmosphere. Went back a second time for dinner, was wonderful as well.

Solid exploration and perhaps a little abuse of the new La Catrina Mexican experiment here in Wailea. D-y-n-a-m-i-t-e quality, creativity, and cocktail creativity. Abuse? Well, the first hour of HH (there's 2) everything save for the entrées are half off... so killed everything on a veritable power play of yums. (ALL) 6 appetizers, 1 mole enchilada, 1 salad, and 7 cocktails... for under $100... after tax... in Wailea... un-freakin-believable... Favorites? Appy: All are super flippin' good but I'd say the Poblano Dip with Serrano, corn, and Oaxaca cheese. Cocktail: I'd have to go with the Caliente y Fria - 21 seeds Cucumber jalapeño tequila, elderflower, lime, agave, Cucumber, jalapeño, coconut water, black salt rim. We only did one salad but the House with their homemade cilantro dressing almost made Sara fall over. Same with the entrée... the mole was killer. I feel like we won a shirt tonight.... but we seriously bibbed up and tied one on after all the time in the sun. Was like a NY Times review here and 100% worth it ?

We were on an hour wait at another eatery just down the parking lot and rather than just stand around and wait, we jumped in La Catrina Cantina for a quick glass of wine. To our surprise - they have a very solid happy hour and the place was full! Two glasses of wine cost us $9 - a steal for Maui! Service was good and it appeared several of the tables were locals, which tells me the food may be good in addition to their happy hour! Definitely glad we stopped in!
