We had a fantastic experience dining at Late August. My family celebrated my daughter's birthday at the restaurant and we could not have had a better time... the food was outstanding, the service was great, and the atmosphere was relaxing and perfect. Highly recommended!

Exceptional cuisine. I have never had better fried chicken. It was both succulent and crispy. Also the bread and hummus and the tres leches cake were highlights. Great ambience, friendly and accommodating staff.
The chorizo smash burger was amazing!!! That mojito was also very good! Definitely coming back!

I had dinner here and everything was amazing! The food was full of flavor, the service was super friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere made it a really enjoyable night out. You can tell they care about quality and presentation. Definitely one of my new favorite spots — I’ll be coming back for sure!

An amazing dining experience!!! Late August continues to impress! The original menu was unique innovative fresh and tasty. The new tasting menu is an elegant and elevated dining experience on par with the best in any major international city including the best in the US, Europe and Asia. This is anchored by ingredients from the restaurant's local garden that are highlighted across the courses.
First, the food was excellent. Completely unique offering for the already incredible Houston food scene. The service was at an entirely different level. Once the entree was delivered to the table, no one ever came back to check in. Wine that was ordered was never delivered. No wait staff came by to offer water refills. Mid-entree, we watched the waiter leave the restaurant in street clothes. No one asked if we needed anything else or even brought the check - we had to get up and finally ask the hostess to bring that to us. I realize it was their last night before an extended break and a coming switch to a tasting menu experience, so the staff may have been checked out. But for a restaurant that has a Michelin distinction and James Beard recognition, there definitely is a glaring opportunity to improve service. Hopefully that will change when the new format arrives! But food really was great.

From the moment we walked in, the staff at Late August made us feel welcomed and at home. Their warmth and attentiveness set the tone for what turned out to be an unforgettable evening. We visited during Houston Restaurant Weeks, so the portion sizes weren't the full menu versions, but WOW--what they served absolutely delivered on flavor and creativity. The Gumbo with chorizo was rich, hearty, and unlike anything we've had before. The Relleno was packed with bold flavors that left our taste buds ablaze. I also tried the ribs, and let me just say: these may be the best ribs I've ever had. Tender, smoky, and seasoned to perfection. I did have to send the first plate back due to my sesame allergy, but the staff handled it gracefully and quickly corrected the mistake--making it the only minor hiccup in an otherwise flawless dining experience. Overall, Late August wowed us from start to finish. The food, the service, the atmosphere--it was all top tier. We will definitely be returning!
The food was delicious. The ambiance was enjoyable and pleasant. The food is a bit pricey, but definitely unique flavors and dishes you won't get everyday or anywhere else. The drinks were great! I enjoyed myself and so did my guests.
Kamilah, was amazing! The drink pairing was phenomenal along with Houston Restaurant Weeks menu! We really loved it and will definitely be back! Would highly recommend! And the nod from Michelin was icing on the cake! :) I can see why!

Yummy #HRW dinner w Nithy at the bar. Lucious avocado sour (practically a smoothie) and excellent service. Devoured the oysters before I could take a pic. A dozen more, please. Chile relleno and short rib convinced me we need to return. 😋
We were really disappointed with our dinner at Late August. Our waitress was very nice but after she took our order she disappeared to the bar where she bartended, probably because they were short staffed. We never saw her again until she brought us complimentary drinks because the food took so long. Besides that, the gumbo was thin and salty. The braised short rib was overcooked and the desserts were disappointing as well. The only flavorful and unique dish were the ribs. For being named best new restaurant by Esquire so recently, the restaurant did not live up to the hype.
