I had dinner here and everything was amazing! The food was full of flavor, the service was super friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere made it a really enjoyable night out. You can tell they care about quality and presentation. Definitely one of my new favorite spots — I’ll be coming back for sure!

Kamilah, was amazing! The drink pairing was phenomenal along with Houston Restaurant Weeks menu! We really loved it and will definitely be back! Would highly recommend! And the nod from Michelin was icing on the cake! :) I can see why!

We were really disappointed with our dinner at Late August. Our waitress was very nice but after she took our order she disappeared to the bar where she bartended, probably because they were short staffed. We never saw her again until she brought us complimentary drinks because the food took so long. Besides that, the gumbo was thin and salty. The braised short rib was overcooked and the desserts were disappointing as well. The only flavorful and unique dish were the ribs. For being named best new restaurant by Esquire so recently, the restaurant did not live up to the hype.

Went for Houston Restaurant Week
Pros
+ Achiote baby back ribs with tortillas (best dish)
+ Restaurant very generously gave us another round of cocktails for free to apologize for the long wait for the dessert course
+ Ambience was nice, vibey, modern
Cons
- Gumbo was thin and flavorless
- Donuts in the dessert court were tough and dry (possibly stale?)
- Orange wine cocktail was too sweet

We went to celebrate someone’s birthday and it was a fun time. I give this place 5 stars all around! Our server was Conner and he was delightful. From the host who sat our party to the food presentation, knowledge for pairings, and all around fun. I highly recommend this place.

Celebrated my birthday last night at Late August, it was only fitting. This establishment is incomparable from the excellent service, great food and delicious drinks. If you haven’t tried this place I highly recommend and it’s on the restaurant week list.

An amazing menu with beautiful presentation. The restaurant is a little loud perhaps because there’s a big loud party at a table near us. But the design is such that there’s no noise damping in the room. The food is wonderful and I am delighted that it’s making a go of it here in the Ion center.

Amazing. Must try! Best fried chicken in the city. Impressed they made me love a gulf oyster. Delicious stew, felt like all around elevated, savory, comfort food

The food was interesting and we liked the Afro-Latin twist, however it still seemed something was missing from the dishes. The server was friendly but a bit pushy and not very attentive. She encouraged us to get way more food than we needed, and would not course the vegetable dishes alongside our mains as requested.
We also wanted the 1/2 Rack as our main but she came back to tell us it was ‘86’d’ and on hold for the Latin restaurant week customers. Even though she had discouraged us from getting the Latin restaurant week menu as it was too small a serving.
We got the fish which was a bit cumbersome due to all the bones. The Eggplant dish and the Octopus dish were our favorites.
