I used to absolutely love this place, got it every chance I could, but as of late it's impossible to know when theyre open. The last 6 times ive gone (Yes, ive checked the times, checked online, and even called ahead), it's been either fully closed or reserved for events. I moved 3 hrs away a few yrs ago and this place has been 90% of the reson i still travel back to Houston, so it's even more disappointing to be met with a closed sign after the long drive. As much as Ill miss it, it's time for me to give up 🥲

Worst experience. We went on Thursday because we wanted a Chinese buffet. The food they served was not fresh and tasteless. It was the first and last time we went there.

It's a good restaurant. Food I would say so so. But I like the restaurant. If anyone prefers halal food, this restaurant is a good choice.

We’ve attended both a birthday party and a wedding reception at Maharaja Halal, and each visit left a lasting impression. The event hall is spacious, ideal for large gatherings with plenty of room for kids to move around. The staff is courteous and efficient, ensuring smooth service throughout.

The highlight, of course, is the authentic Bangladeshi cuisine. The menu is rich with variety—starting with crispy pakoras, flavorful chicken fry, and comforting Thai soup. The beef and chicken biriyani are aromatic and perfectly spiced, paired beautifully with soft naan and creamy chicken korma. We also enjoyed shami kebabs, vegetable curry, and chicken roast, all cooked with traditional flair.

Desserts like firni, rosomalai, and gulab jamun added a sweet finish to the meal. The food consistently reflects the flavors of home, making it a go-to spot for Bangladeshi celebrations.

Whether you're hosting an event or simply craving a hearty meal, Maharaja Halal offers a welcoming atmosphere and delicious food that brings people together. Highly recommended for anyone seeking authentic South Asian hospitality and taste.

Above Average bangladeshi dish

Very average food quality, came on Thursday night Chinese.

Update after owner response:
Food was slightly salty, pretty much all the items. Both soups and wonton were decent, probably the highlight for me. Everything else need work, Tehari has no flavor, fried rice was slightly sweet, beef and chicken weren’t flavorful.

You have food side and then the experience, many of the items was barely warm, half the tray was covered with lid giving the impression you are trying to keep food warm, but if you remove the lid, there was barely anything. There was no rice pudding and never got refilled. I understand you are trying to balance so food doesn’t go to next day, but it ruins the experience, it’s a double edge sword but you need to figure out the best balance maybe take a small hit to gain repeat customers. $15.99 is cheap, maybe increase by a dollar or two but give a better experience. We didn’t go because it’s cheap, we wanted to have Bangladeshi Chinese taste. Hope this helps and good luck.

Every Tuesday at Maharajah Restaurant on Hwy 6 — Bangladeshi food for just $11 per person!
We enjoyed fish curry, aloo bhorta, eggplant bhorta, daal and more — all full of flavor and just like home!
They bring fish, meat, chomchom, Roshgolla from Maharani grocery, by same owner.
Stop by and give your mouth a festival!

Great food and service for the price, have been coming here since childhood, but would definitely recommend a redesign of the interior!

Had the buffet on Sunday, good range of options to choose from. Goat curry bangladeshi style was the best I ever had, reminds me of homemade food. Alu tikki was second favorite. They serve naan and chicken tandoori at your table, included with the buffet. Vegetables were little under-seasoned. Liked the kheer. Only thing to complain would be the lack of cooling and air flow in this heat and humidity. I will definitely come here again for the food.

Vegetarian options: Few types of mixed vegetables, daal, spinach, alu tikki, pakora

They should label beef item as it is a sensitive issue for many people. We almost ate beef item which was labeled as goat curry. Two beef items without alternative for people who don’t eat beef, make it hard to find the dinner menu worthy enough!!!
