This was the 2nd time that I’ve been to this location and nothing has changed since the last time I was here 2 years ago.
We ordered the Cumin lamb, Chengdo style roasted prawns, and House Special Spicy Chou Mein. Food was amazingly good.
Will definitely be back. I have to mention that the prices are very reasonable too.
Update many years later. This place always holds up. Everything on the menu is made with so much care and love. Sammi is super friendly and made out day.
Excellent spot for authentic Sichuan cuisine. Sichuan cuisine gets a bad rap for just being about peppers and heat. If that's all it brings, you had the wrong kind. It's all that, but also really complex flavors. Everything from the Sichuan chili oil, to ginger to garlic, it's got lots more depth than pictures may lead you to believe. Also, it's not the spiciest food out there. Great place, great food.
My wife was asking for some real good dumplings and I was looking for good authentic Chinese food. We heard about Mala at the Montrose location so we tried the bellaire location.
Best decision we made.
The meat and vegetables are not fresh. The dishes are very salty. The portions are small. Avoid it!!!
Phenomenal Sichuan food. Generally Sichuan food leaves my tongue numb but Mala Sichuan was perfectly balanced. The Dan Dan noodles were some of the best noodles I have ever had. The cold noodles were ok. The mapu tofu was really good. The vegetable hot pot was just ok. I would return for the Dan Dan noodles.
We went to this place for a quick lunch, and it was a really nice place. Small and cozy. This place is clean and comfortable and poses. We ordered the typical dishes and all of these tasted very good. I would go here again for sure
Somewhat authentic Sichuan food, and not shy of the spiciness. The avocado charred pepper salad was a big surprise to me, it’s such a creative combination but made some much sense, very cream and savory. The flavor of spicy crispy chicken and the twice cooked pork were good and balanced. But the pork could be prepared better, can still taste a bit of the pork gamey taste. Also the chicken could be better quality.
I came here for the third time today and it b the best ever! The quality and cleanliness of the restaurant was at its best from the times I’ve been and it’s the best quality Chinese food I’ve had in houston.
Hands down, this is the best Chinese food in Houston period. We had mapo tofu and fried pork and they were super good. Mapo tofu packs a lot of flavor, chilli and umami. I love that there is sansho pepper in it. Reasonable price for quality.

I know. This isn't in The Woodlands. But we were there taking Beltway 8 in 45 minutes. And it was so worth the drive.
So for New Year's day we took the trip down to Bellaire to Mala Sichuan Bistro for "The Top Notch Pot of The Outlaws" and some other Chinese goodies. I was introduced to the restaurant and the dish from a client and friend who was born and lived half her life in China. The restaurant and the dish are amazing.
It has basa fish fillet, shrimp, beef luncheon meat, beef tripe, pork intestines, congealed pork blood, tofu, baby bokchoy, napa cabbage, king oyster mushrooms, wood ear fungus, cauliflower, and sweet potato vermicelli, cooked in a Sichuan cooking in a mala hotpot broth. Mu friend says don't drink the broth. It has a lot 0fnoil in it. It comes with white rice.
We also got Garlic Cordyceps Mushrooms and Chillin’ Cucumber Sticks for appetizers, and Basil Eggplant and String Beans, and the Beef Brisket with Mushroom Medley, and Crysthanimum tea.
Everything was just amazing. It always is. They need to open one in The Woodlands.

This restaurant has high CP value.
All their dishes are spicy and each dish has their individual flavor.
I love their deep fry pig intestine.
Some of the dishes are very spicy, so ask them when ordering.
Their pricing for each of their dishes are very reasonable.

Visited with my friends, and we were all really happy with the experience! The food was absolutely delicious and tasted like real Sichuan cuisine—full of bold flavors and just the right amount of spice.
The service was excellent too. The staff were super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. It’s not always easy to find a place that combines great food with great service, but this restaurant nails it.
If you’re a fan of authentic Sichuan food, you won’t be disappointed. It’s an absolute gem.
