Came to Matcha Mia for the first time. When I went inside I let the worker know it was my first time and was stuck between the Strawberry Horchata and the Vanilla Caramel Swirl Coffee. She said the strawberry was the most popular. Decided to get it. Paid around $10 with tip. As sheâs making it I notice sheâs about to add matcha, I stopped her and let her know I did not want the matcha and that the strawberry didnât come with it and she goes âOh that horchata one not the match oneâ and I said âyesâ. She then immediately goes âWell we donât do refundsâ Iâm taken aback as I never asked for one and then she goes âwell the vanilla one is also a matchaâ and I go âthe vanilla caramel swirl coffee comes with matcha?â And she proceeds to say âoh no thatâs a coffeeâ. She then lets me know itâs only a dollar difference between the drink I ordered and the one she gave me. Which no it was actually a 2$ difference plus the extra tip I gave. Definitely do not recommend. Or atleast hire employees that know the menu and ingredients. Very disappointing.

What a lovely spot! I came here to celebrate my birthday and absolutely loved it. The atmosphere was beautiful, aesthetically pleasing in every way, and the staff was so kind and welcoming. Iâm so glad I discovered this place through TikTok; it truly lived up to the hype. Definitely worth the money, and I hope they expand with more locations because this is exactly what Houston needs!

Just came here for the first time and tried their slushy ! Omg it was so so so good. Their matcha quality you can tell itâs really good! Iâm usually very picky with my matcha but here the staff was very kind and patient taking my order and adjusting it as needed. 100% recommend making the drive. They are also opening a second location in Montrose so I am actually super excited about that since it will be closer to me ! I love matcha mia so much! <3

Saw this on instagram and decided to check it out, I ordered the strawberry matcha and honestly they know whatâs a good ceremonial grade matcha, the girls taking the order are super friendly and even recommended me a lot of drinks which I love, I love the vibe of this place, definitely stopping by every morning now!

I really wanted to love this place, but unfortunately, it was underwhelming across the board.
The matcha itself is legit and authentic, noticeably higher quality than what youâd find at a typical coffee shop. But hereâs the problem: when you use real ceremonial-grade matcha, the flavor is bold and earthyâwhich completely overpowered every other element in the drinks.
The Salted Caramel and Mango were just matcha with the faintest hint of those flavors. The Strawberry Horchata Matcha was honestly unpleasantâherbal, flat, and barely sweet. Nothing stood out in a good way.
The Matcha waffle was actually good, but definitely not enough to justify the 35-minute drive.
What really threw me off was the customer service. It was our first time, and the drink menu isnât visible from the register. When we asked a basic question about the Strawberry Horchata, the guy at the counter looked at us with visible annoyance and snapped, âYes⌠itâs all matcha.â Then he just walked away mid-order to go talk to someone in the backâno âexcuse me,â no acknowledgment. Just gone.
The space is cute, but aesthetics donât matter when the service is dismissive and the drinks are mediocre. If youâre going to brand yourself as a specialty matcha shop, both the product and the experience need to deliver. Right now, they donât.
If youâre only going for Instagram pictures, maybe itâs worth a visit. But for me? I wonât be back.

I visited to try their froyo and the banana matcha drink. I sampled several froyo flavors: mango, strawberry, cheesecake, chocolate, and matcha. Unfortunately, none of them tasted quite right. The matcha froyo, in particular, had an off taste that resembled spoiled milk, which my friend also noticed. The banana matcha drink was extremely bitter and not enjoyable.
When I politely asked about possibly getting a replacement drink of lesser value, an employee called over a higher-up who bluntly said, âWe donât do replacement drinks.â When I explained the issue, she offered to add more banana or milk, and when I asked if they had any sweeteners, she replied, âNo, we donât.â The interaction felt dismissive, and she walked off to alter my drink before I had finished speaking. We ended up adding more banana to it, but there wasnât much difference.
While Iâve visited this place multiple times in the past, my experiences have consistently declined. Their drinks have continuously increased in price but the quality of drinks are dropping. Unfortunately, this visit left a particularly negative impression.
