A great find! A fine dining experience without the white table cloths.
Tasty food, excellent service! Cool atmosphere

As soon as you walk in the atmosphere is so welcoming. The service is outstanding. The food has the Italian touch and flavor (I visited Italy last year) food is really similar. The appetizers were all good. The prawns in the sauce delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection! Paired my food with the suggested red wine. The desserts topped it off for a perfect night out. Will be back with the rest of my family.

The food and atmosphere was absolutely incredible. Easily the best Italian meal I’ve had in Houston.

However, that being said, the service left a bit to be desired. Our server was lovely but he told us to put everything in at once and the kitchen would course it for us. It was not coursed or paced well literally at all. Our mains came out with appetizer within maybe five minutes of ordering but then weirdly the bread service that we ordered came out afterwards??? And then the second we appeared done with anything there was someone trying to clear the plates when I had a fork with the last bite literally in my mouth. To be fair we were there at a holiday (NYE) so I can’t blame them for wanting to flip the table but it was incredibly off putting.

Will definitely come back because the food is genuinely so good but will definitely make sure server is aware we prefer a more leisurely paced meal. Would come back for the zucchini pasta alone.

My husband and I first discovered Mimo back in ‘23. I had a mad craving for wine and Italian cuisine. Being in the neighborhood we lived in, we thought we had to venture out. I was wrong. Down Canal we discovered the perfect place nestled in the Tlaquepaque Market!
This is what defines Houston food scene, an authentic, delectable restaurant in the middle of a neighborhood.

We decided to go this evening for our anniversary. We had a reservation set for 7, but we arrived at 5:40 because we were in the area and other plans fell through. They sat us quickly and canceled our original reservation.
The atmosphere is so cozy and inviting, so is the staff. Everyone is so attentive yet relaxed. The menu is not overwhelming! If it is your first time I would say, ask your host for a recommendation on the menu because they will not disappoint you!

Give them gem a try!

Excellent food, great atmosphere and amazing service. Had a reservation for a Sunday and had a great experience. Shared some appetizers and some dishes. Highly recommend the roasted Cornish hen and the papperdelle braised lamb. Both had a ton of flavor and just really hit the spot.

We were looking forward to eating at this restaurant. Came far out to come here as we saw it on the inkind app and wanted to try the food.

Ambiance was amazing but management service has room to improve. Came here to eat the bone in rib eye. They ran out and didn't try to make it right.

We told them that we came far our to eat here and try it out and the least they could do is make it right but they did not. Therefore, I have to give it a 1 star.

Ambiance was nice and has lots of potential but suggest they be customer focused especially when they run out of food items that customers come to try.

Wow. I can’t believe it took me so long to find this place. They’ve been open for 2 years now. We stopped by during Happy Hour and tried as much as we could. The Pane was delicious. We also went with the Crochette. The “salsa verde” was fabulous and the perfect pairing to the sourdough bread. The wine recommended was awesome. For the main course we split the risotto and the lamb chops. 5-Stars all the way. We will be back!

Mimo is a great choice for Italian food in the area. The food is consistently excellent, and the quality of the ingredients and preparation is evident in every dish. While the prices are a little on the higher side, the meal is definitely worth the cost. I also appreciate the transparency of their menu and pricing, which adds to the overall positive experience. If you're looking for a high-quality Italian dinner, Mimo is a great option.

Me and my wife been to Mimo's and really enjoyed everything a few years ago. Since then both of us are retired and had planned on going back. yet because of the increase in price we had to decline. We understand everything has gone up and hate because of retirement and not earning a living on a set retirement we have had to cut on everything! We wish Mimo's success in every way! We read about Mimo's and were heart broken about their struggles! Never thought we would be in this situation yet we are lucky than most and not lucky as others. In any way thought I would add my comment about the awesome place! Thank you sincerely Mr.Mrs Roberto Palacios an old customer and fan who still thinks of the days when we could afford to go to nice restaurants!

Mimo is a hidden gem Italian spot. It reminds me of the Street to Kitchen story, so get to it before everyone else finds out. Everything we ordered was delicious.

Yes, the pricing is a little funny. For example, my burrata salad should not cost the same as one of the main entrées, but whatever. I still give them praise for not being another Landry’s-style, well-oiled machine. The menu is full of interesting choices and the quality is fantastic. The service was great too.

Houston truly lacks quality Italian food, so this was a fantastic find. We even tried the carrot pizza, because where else do you see that on a menu, and it turned out to be absolutely fantastic.

You come here to explore your senses, not to order a pepperoni pizza. No judgment, just setting the right expectations.

Our table of friends was soooo glad we found a new spot to eat and meet. Very attentive and friendly service, fresh delicious meals from a compact yet diverse Italy rich menu, and yes, they do have a wonderful selection of Italian wines (and others) to choose from along w a couple of great Italian beers. The sourdough skillet bread w the charred crust was amazing, and all our main courses were met w much pleasure…this is truly an original neighborhood mainstay, and we can’t wait to get back and invite more family and friends. PS - the fried dough, rolled in granulated sugar, and drizzled in honey was perfect w the Cappuccino as they have solid beans here.
