Kadence was very accommodating- we stayed in hotel but just came in from cold walk to museum. We wanted coffee but we wanted to sit in restaurant- she was so long her customer service was on point I loved her attitude and her behaviors- such class!!!!

My only disappointment is the changed menu. The number of selections is limited and I miss the smoked salmon and bagel. Please bring the old favorites back!

Unfortunately, my family and I had a rather disappointing Thanksgiving experience this year. The food arrived cold, which took away from what should have been a warm, comforting holiday meal. In addition, the service felt noticeably slow, even considering the busyness of the holiday. We’ve visited this place many times over the years, and it’s clear that things have changed—unfortunately not for the better. I truly hope they can address these issues, as we’ve had wonderful experiences here in the past and would love to see it return to the level of quality it once had.

Expecting Michelin star quality and we were disappointed. Not bragging, just qualifying the review- we have been to many 1, 2 and 3 star Michelin rated restaurants in the US,South America,Europe. Ambiance and service were great! Bread service was unassuming. Lollipop lamb chop appetizers were just “ok”, but under seasoned. We shared the classic cheeseburger and the chicken/pasta dish, both of which were just ok. Cheeseburger was probably the highlight although on its own,doesn't compete with the many different burger options Houston has to offer (Trill,Bodega,Chan,etc). Pasta dish does not represent Michelin awarded establishment. It was Thanksgiving, so maybe they were not at their best last night. We will probably give Monarch a 2nd chance in the future and hope last night was just a fluke.
We had a delightful Thanksgiving special dinner with all the trimmings. Added the mushroom broth that was exceptional. Reasonably priced given the upscale location. The room was a bit noisy when many tables were occupied. Only negative was a disappointing Caesar salad.

Austin C was THE BEST server I've encountered potentially ever. This man surprised me with what I wanted before I even knew I wanted it! He went over and above from the moment we sat down. Without knowing it, Austin created an experience I won't forget from my recent trip to Austin. Thank you sir. Your service was sublime!

i came by around 10 pm since i needed a place to sit while waiting for my dad to pick me up. i had two waiters josé and judith. i also talked to the manager, who heard about my situation. i was given a burger and fries even though i said i couldn't afford to buy anything here, because josé asked if i was hungry. i mostly wanted to eat fries but josé said i could still order a burger. it was really big, so i'm going to share it with my sister at home.
my second waiter judith brought me to the terrace when the bar area was getting too loud (a party was going on at the bar area). then she walked me to my dad's car when she saw me getting up to leave with the takeout bag. even if i can't afford anything here, i would go here again if i'm in the museum district because the staff is very nice. i plan on getting my license soon so i don't end up stranded in houston again. i liked the fries here.

I really enjoyed my first experience at Monarch! Exquisite interior design that fits neatly inside the Zaza Hotel featuring delectable dishes. The Feast of the King (elk chop) is delicious.
