I should preface this: it would be a 5 star rating if I was vietnamese and looking to gamble. This review will be written instead from the perspective of the white guy looking for a cup of tea. A buddy and I roll up after having an awesome dinner at Desi Grill and were looking for a cup of tea. Tealicious is closed but next door is Nha Trang with a picture of a cup of coffee on the sign. The open sign isn't illuminated but the hours say it's open til 9. Though we can't see inside we pull the door open only to realize we've made a huge mistake. As the harsh glow of neon lights wash over us we come to see that we have been misled as to the nature of this establishment. The walls are lined with gaming machines and as we get over the surprise of the scene we realize all ten people inside are staring at us. Most of them are smoking cigarettes around an oval table by the bar and on the table are cards they just set down and a stack of cash. Once someone went to the back room and got the english speaker (all the while one guy is yelling at another in vietnamese) we were informed that they were closed. Let's just say we were glad for the excuse to leave.

Lol...boy this place was a big mistake. I was very sleepy from this weekend's Super Bowl festivities and needed some coffee to wake me up. Well, this place managed to do that unexpectedly. So I see a new restaurant opened up by Pho Danh 3 and Nguyen Ngo 2 in the Hong Kong Supermarket shopping center called Nha Trang Cafe with a picture of a cup of coffee on the sign. I've passed by a few times and saw that they open kind of early at 8AM everyday. Figured I check them out today. Got there and noticed the place was tinted with video cameras outside, but then again, there were cameras at every suite in the shopping center, so no big deal. Also saw chairs and tables outside and opening at 8AM, probably a legit coffeehouse. Opened the door and there's gaming machines everywhere. While I like to gamble, I know my odds are better in Vegas or Lake Charles than these rigged machines at these seedy gamerooms. I got a few unwelcome glaring stares from the patrons smoking inside there who look like PT (gangsters) back in the day. Waittress comes up looking at me like "WTF are you doing here?!" and I order coffee. Well, as I sit and watch ESPN Sportscenter and wait for coffee, I can tell my welcome is wearing thin, so I decided to bail. At least I'm wide awake now lol.
