We visited this restaurant, on recommendation of the Netflix special “High on the Hog”. Nice Atmosphere. The food was excellent. We ordered the 3 meat combo, Chicken, Baby back ribs and pulled pork. All 3 were very tender, well seasoned and great smoke flavor. We had the greens, bake beans and potato salad. This was more than enough for my husband and I to share. Multiple beers on tap. If you want dessert, get the lemon pound cake. Very delicious. If you come to Houston Texas, it is a must.

I go there for lunch 4 times a week. Great BBQ and wonderful staff! The brisket, baby back ribs, and sandwiches are to die for!

My wife and I stopped in to get a bite to eat as we waited for her flight. I was really disappointed. The BBQ was dry and lacked any real taste to it. And my wife agreed. Sorry, but Central Texas is a one and done for us.

Lunch for two $30.00. Generous portions. Brisket was the best I’ve had. Restaurant was clean and very busy. Enter the buffet line at door and ask questions if you’re a first timer. They helped us make our choice. Staff very friendly. Food was amazing.

While visiting from South Carolina we stopped in for lunch. I had the beef brisket and ribs both which were very good. The restaurant serves food at a counter so service was not an issue. The place was clean.

Went while visiting friends in Houston. My kids are picky eaters and they loved this place. Everything was amazing. The ribs were smoked to perfection and falling off the bone, the Mac and Cheese and Fried Okra were amazing. The brisket was so tender and juicy. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the options. The icing on the cake is when my wife and confirmed this was the same place we saw on the Netflix show “High on the Hog” we just smiled from ear to ear while we enjoyed this delicious food. The portions are like everything in Texas, big! We fed our family of 6 for lunch and had enough left over for dinner.

People can say what they want but this place is excellent. You would look at the front and never think that but it is delicious. Brisket stuffed baked potatoes are huge and very filling. Friendly staff that shows that they appreciate your business. I am stuffed every time I walk out of the place. Only open for lunch, M-F

Great BBQ lunch for our group. The Brisket and Pulled Pork sandwiches were awesome. Their BBQ sauce was good and the sides were very tasty. There was plenty of parking and seats inside. The wait and server staff were friendly and efficient, Great lunch experience -- we will be back!

Do not visit this place!!! They have the worst customer service ON EARTH!!! You will have to wait for over an hour, they only have one cash register open (no matter how long the line is), and she is not competent at all. The matriarch of family run business is EXTREMELY RUDE!!! They will "mess," your order up, and they could care less about how long you have waited, how long the lines are, and don't care how long you have to wait in the Heat!!! They will be out of business soon, they have no manners, all of the employees are very slow and lethargic!!!!! Spend your money else where, and if you do visit this place, please beware of the old lady who works the front, and please check your plate before you leave!!!

After first eating here in 2018, I recently returned and confirmed that it is, indeed, my favorite. I would eat here every day if I could.

We planned to visit Houston Botanical Garden & wanted to grab some lunch nearby. CTXBBQ had good ratings so we gave it a try. As we were walking in, we heard a guy say this was his favorite bbq. Ok. We ordered the two meat plate lunch special with ribs & sliced beef brisket, and a link of sausage. Our choice of sides: dirty rice & mac n cheese. The ribs were tough, brisket was dry and tough, and the sausage was like the tasteless mass made sausage you can get at the grocery store. I was expecting the cajun recipe dirty rice, not at all what I got. Mac n cheese was standard. In all fairness, we have enjoyed a lot of really good bbq so the bar was set pretty high for this meal. Tasted like bbq that was day old or had been left out in the cooler uncovered. The people working there were very nice and the price was reasonable.

I've recently visited Houston and stopped @ Gatlin's for the first time on my way to the airport. I was lucky enough to have the owner close by while I mentioned that I was out of town and was trying to figure out what to order, which trigger this sweet lady to come over and help. I left the ordering to her and she suggested the brisket, the ribs, macaroni and cheese, and potato salad as sides. As we were eating she came by multiple times to make sure everything was ok. It was a fantastic experience beginning with the food and ending with the great folks and service, and will highly recommend it to anyone who will listen, and make it a go-to place anytime I'm in town.

I didn't expect much from this place as the outside is very uninviting. But, disregard the facade and go inside where you be treated to some of the most amazing Texas BBQ. I've had BBQ everywhere and this is some of the best at a fair price (2 meat lunch combo is only $15.95). Enjoy !!
